Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Robust Margins And Improved ProfitabilitySustained gross and net margins near 53% and ~19.6% reflect structural cost efficiency and pricing leverage in gold production. Higher margins and a material jump in net income improve reinvestment capacity and resilience across cycles, supporting durable profitability and project funding.
Production Scale-up And Meeting GuidanceA clear production ramp and adherence to 2026 guidance indicate reliable operational execution. Higher output drives lasting revenue capacity because ounces sold are the primary revenue driver in mining, supporting steady cash generation potential and materially de-risking future project economics.
Improving Leverage And Strong Returns On EquityLower leverage ratio alongside a near-23% ROE signals healthier capital structure and effective capital deployment. Manageable leverage with strong ROE preserves capacity to fund development, withstand downcycles, and pursue accretive growth without excessively diluting shareholders.
Bears Say
Weakened Cash-flow ConversionEarnings are outpacing cash generation, with operating cash covering only ~77% of net income and FCF declining. Persistent weaker cash conversion reduces internal funding for capex and projects, may increase reliance on external financing, and heightens liquidity sensitivity during commodity price shocks.
Cyclical Earnings And Historical VolatilityPast losses and sensitivity to gold prices and operational execution show earnings can flip across cycles. This structural volatility complicates long-term planning, increases downside risk during price troughs, and makes consistent cash returns and financing terms more conditional on cycle timing.
Rising Absolute Debt LevelsAlthough leverage ratios improved, absolute debt has increased materially from 2024 lows. Higher nominal indebtedness raises interest and refinancing exposure in a cyclical industry, constraining flexibility to invest or absorb shocks if production or prices weaken over the medium term.
