Q3 2026 Earnings Call Summary
The call was predominantly positive. Verisk delivered solid organic revenue, subscription, adjusted EBITDA and adjusted EPS growth; maintained its 2026 outlook; expanded client engagement; and reported meaningful progress in AI adoption, productivity, data assets and capital returns. The main challenges were softer property and transactional markets, lower weather activity affecting contractor and adjuster customers, longer sales cycles, lower cash flow, higher interest expense and uncertainty around the AccuLynx transaction.
Verisk maintained its outlook for 2026, expecting consolidated revenue in the range of $3.19 billion to $3.24 billion, adjusted EBITDA between $1.79 billion and $1.83 billion, adjusted EBITDA margins of 56% to 56.5%, net interest expense of $190 million to $200 million, an effective tax rate in the range of 23% to 26%, and adjusted earnings per share for the year in the range of $7.45 to $7.75; elongated sales cycles and the lower level of weather events likely keep results towards the midpoint of the range, while the fourth quarter is expected to include transactional revenues that do not repeat and margins that are often a bit lower from a margin standpoint, and the company expects 25 to 75 basis points of margin expansion consistent with its Investor Day targets.
- Subscription Revenue MomentumSubscription revenue, which represented 84% of total quarterly revenue, increased 8.2% on an organic constant currency basis, following 8.7% growth in the prior-year period. Growth was driven by forms, rules and loss costs, Catastrophe and Risk Solutions, and anti-fraud analytics.
- Adjusted EBITDA and Margin ExpansionOrganic constant currency adjusted EBITDA increased 7.5%. Total adjusted EBITDA margin rose 90 basis points year-over-year to 56.7%, reflecting operating leverage from revenue growth and ongoing cost discipline.
- Adjusted Earnings GrowthAdjusted net income increased 5.4% to $254 million, while diluted adjusted EPS rose 14% to $1.96. The increase was driven by revenue growth, margin expansion and a lower average share count, partially offset by higher interest expense and a higher tax rate.
- Maintained 2026 Financial OutlookVerisk maintained its 2026 guidance, including consolidated revenue of $3.19 billion to $3.24 billion, adjusted EBITDA of $1.79 billion to $1.83 billion, adjusted EBITDA margins of 56% to 56.5%, net interest expense of $190 million to $200 million, an effective tax rate of 23% to 26%, and adjusted EPS of $7.45 to $7.75.
- Client Engagement and Relationship ExpansionVerisk hosted 128 senior executive engagements during the quarter. Management said clients are expanding and extending relationships as they adopt new capabilities, reflecting investments in data quality and technology.
- AI Solution Adoption and Product PipelineVerisk reported increased growth in licenses for AI-related solutions and strong interest in pilots and proof-of-concept work. Forms AI Builder, launched in beta in mid-September for general liability, was already being used by 14 companies, while Mozart Form Composer added 9 customers during the year, including its largest-ever agreement with a Tier 1 carrier.
- AI Productivity GainsFAST Studio, Verisk's platform-aware agentic AI development environment, produced early measured productivity gains of up to 30% across the software development life cycle. Management said AI productivity opportunities are appearing across the portfolio and are expected to support a combination of operating leverage and reinvestment.
- Progress on Agentic AI PartnershipVerisk advanced to the third phase of its partnership with a leading specialty insurer to co-develop agentic AI capabilities. The work is moving toward real-world validation, deeper integration and a path to production for U.S. general liability, with the next major review scheduled for December.
- Expansion of Excess and Surplus Data SetVerisk secured commitments from 21 data contributors for its new excess and surplus data set. Coverage increased to $36 billion in excess and surplus premium from $18 billion at the prior quarterly call, and clients said the benchmarking tool enables portfolio analytics they previously could not perform.
- Digital Media Forensics ScaleThe Digital Media Forensics library expanded to more than 800 million images, up from 600 million in March. Verisk described it as its most comprehensive image library for fraud detection.
- Strong Organic Revenue GrowthThird-quarter organic constant currency revenue grew 7.4%, with underwriting up 7.7% and claims up 6.7%. Growth improved sequentially in both businesses and returned to levels in line with Verisk's medium-term annual targets.
- Catastrophe and Anti-Fraud Business StrengthCatastrophe and Risk Solutions delivered double-digit subscription growth driven by adoption, pricing and upsell related to Verisk Synergy Studio. The platform launched in late June, its first quarterly update was released in October on time and on budget, and 16 clients were already running it. Anti-Fraud also delivered solid growth through price realization, newer products and new customer wins.
- Capital Returns and Balance Sheet CapacityVerisk paid a quarterly cash dividend of $0.50 per share, up 11% year-over-year, completed a $100 million accelerated share repurchase program and repurchased 10.5 million shares during the first nine months of 2026. Approximately $700 million remained under the share repurchase authorization, and leverage was 2.5x adjusted EBITDA, at the midpoint of the targeted 2x to 3x range.
- Data Value and Pricing RealizationManagement said AI functionality is increasing the value of Verisk's data and improving price realization. A self-insured top-five retailer returned to Verisk's anti-fraud solution and signed a large multiyear agreement after finding that Verisk's broader data produced stronger outcomes and return on investment than using internal data alone.
- Expansion of Data Distribution ChannelsUsage of the Claude MCP Connector and data access through Microsoft and Amazon expanded. The company also expects to develop MCPs for additional applications and data sets, while Whitespace added two significant brokers in Asia Pacific to support more automated and efficient distribution.
