Q3 2026 Earnings Call Summary

Q3 2026
Earnings Call Date:Oct 29, 2026|% Change Since:0.00%|
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive

The call was broadly positive, supported by higher revenue, adjusted EPS and manufacturing cash flow, raised full-year guidance, strong Aviation demand, 16% growth at Textron Systems, MV-75 funding approval and progress on strategic initiatives. Offsetting issues included Bell's revenue and profit declines, continuing MV-75 funding and LRIP timing uncertainty, Aviation manufacturing inefficiencies, supply constraints and declines at Kautex and the Finance segment. The highlights significantly outweighed the lowlights.

Company Guidance

Textron raised expected full year adjusted earnings per share to be in the range of $6.55 to $6.65 from the prior range of $6.40 to $6.60, and expected full year manufacturing cash flow before pension contributions to be in the range of $800 million to $900 million, up from the prior range of $700 million to $800 million; the total-year margin guidance is 11% to 12%, with Q4 expected to reach the low end of that guidance range, driven largely by turboprops and a relatively similar profile on jet deliveries. The $100 million increase in cash flow guidance was primarily driven by lower expected CapEx spend this year by about $100 million, while CapEx is expected to be kind of steady-state in both 2026 and 2027; the possible MV-75 LRIP 1 charge will probably go up to $110 million to $150 million if, as expected, that award pushes into next year. Lisa said the business is working toward around the 200 delivery range for all of its turboprops, jets and helicopters, Gen3 entry into service should begin in the first half of '27, and the Industrial separation or spin is expected to follow a 12-month to 18-month time line.

  • Strong Quarterly Revenue, EPS and Cash FlowTextron delivered $3.8 billion of revenues, $1.76 in adjusted EPS and $418 million of manufacturing cash flow before pension contributions. Revenue increased 4%, or $149 million, from last year's third quarter; adjusted EPS increased from $1.55 to $1.76; and manufacturing cash flow increased from $281 million to $418 million.
  • Raised Full-Year GuidanceThe company raised full-year adjusted EPS guidance to $6.55 to $6.65 from $6.40 to $6.60, and increased manufacturing cash flow before pension contributions guidance to $800 million to $900 million from $700 million to $800 million.
  • Strong Aviation Revenue and Aftermarket GrowthTextron Aviation revenue increased $201 million, or 14%, to $1.7 billion, including a $152 million increase in aircraft revenue and a $49 million increase in aftermarket parts and services revenue. Aftermarket revenue increased 10%, driven by higher volume and pricing, while fleet utilization remained strong.
  • Aviation Deliveries, Orders and BacklogTextron Aviation delivered 51 jets and 32 commercial turboprops, compared with 42 jets and 39 commercial turboprops in last year's third quarter. The business reported its highest third-quarter order activity since 2023, continued to see strong demand across jets and turboprops, and ended the second quarter with an $8 billion backlog.
  • Aviation Segment Profit IncreasedTextron Aviation segment profit was $179 million, up $7 million from a year ago, primarily due to higher aircraft and aftermarket volume and mix.
  • Aviation Productivity and Capacity InvestmentsTextron Aviation is investing in fabrication capacity for machining, sheet metal and landing gear; assembly automation and manufacturing technologies; wing-cell automation for some light jets; tooling for the Gen3 programs and King Air; and digitization of the King Air platform to modernize tooling and processes. The company said it accelerated the King Air digitization effort to begin capturing incremental benefits sooner.
  • Supply-Chain Actions Across Aviation and BellThe company is dual sourcing and in-sourcing challenging suppliers, including spars that have been a gating item in Aviation production. Bell is certifying new suppliers and dual sourcing critical raw materials such as castings, rotor-blade extrusions and aerospace steel alloys, while also adding selective capacity for chemical processing, paint operations and complex assemblies.
  • Progress on Aviation Product DevelopmentThe Denali program has accumulated more than 4,200 flight test hours. The three Gen3 light-jet programs have accumulated more than 1,200 combined flight test hours, and the first production CJ4 Gen3 has rolled out. The Gen3 aircraft include Garmin Emergency Autoland, and the CJ4 Gen3 includes the Garmin G3000 PRIME avionics upgrade.
  • Citation Milestones and SkyCourier DemandTextron Aviation rolled out the 500th Citation Latitude and completed the 500th delivery of the Citation CJ4 Series. The company continues to see significant demand for SkyCourier across freight, passenger, combi and special-mission applications and introduced the SkyCourier UX concept using Merlin's autonomous-aviation software.
  • Textron Systems Delivered 16% Revenue GrowthTextron Systems revenue increased 16%, or $50 million, to $360 million, driven by higher volume on armored land vehicles and military training and support services from ATAC. Segment profit increased $10 million to $57 million, and backlog ended the quarter at $3.5 billion.
  • Ship-to-Shore Connector MomentumTextron Systems received a $230 million contract modification for two additional Ship-to-Shore Connector craft. The program reached full-rate production of four craft per year, with 18 units delivered out of a 73-unit program of record.
  • Systems Land-Program PipelineThe MSFV program is ramping with planned deliveries of 65 units to Ukraine over the next three years. The Marine Corps ARV program is scaling preproduction development efforts ahead of 16-unit deliveries in 2028, and the Army's XM30 program is delivering 10 prototypes to the U.S. Army.
  • Bell MV-75 Funding and Production ProgressCongress approved the Army's $350 million ATR request related to FY 2026 MV-75 funding, and approximately $300 million was obligated through contract modifications during the quarter. Bell completed three wings, received the first nacelles, completed the first wing-and-nacelle assembly process, completed the first fuselage, and advanced gearboxes into testing in its new MV-75 Drive System Test Lab.
  • Bell Contract Award and Operational InitiativesBell received a contract for structural and power upgrades to the H1 fleet under the SPINE program. Bell also continued initiatives to strengthen its supply chain, improve production efficiency and output, certify new suppliers, dual source critical materials, add capacity for constrained assemblies and expand automation.
  • Industrial Segment Separation Remains on TrackTextron said it remains on schedule for the separation of the Industrial segment and continues to support customers, employees and business partners during the process. Management reiterated the previously communicated 12-month to 18-month separation or spin timeline.
  • Industrial Technology and New-Business ProgressTextron Specialized Vehicles introduced the third generation of Samsung battery technology for the E-Z-GO franchise. Kautex is operating a Pentatonic line in Windsor, Canada, preparing new lines in Detroit and the Czech Republic, and ramping production of its Allegro offering for a robotaxi operator.
  • Improved Cash Flow Outlook DriversThe $100 million increase in full-year manufacturing cash flow guidance was primarily driven by approximately $100 million of lower expected 2026 capital expenditures, strong Aviation order activity and corresponding deposits, and expected continued cash flow performance in the fourth quarter.
  • Shareholder Returns and Balance Sheet FlexibilityTextron repurchased approximately 2.9 million shares during the quarter, returning $239 million in cash to shareholders. Management also said the company has a strong balance sheet and is evaluating acquisitions across aerospace and defense, including supplier vertical integration, space-related assets and thermoprotective materials.
  • Favorable Demand and Strategic CollaborationManagement said the underlying demand environment remains favorable. The company is pursuing collaboration across its businesses, including potential combinations of unmanned-aircraft expertise, Bell capabilities and SkyCourier, and said it sees alignment with the government's Project Agincourt.
  • Workforce Retention ImprovementManagement said workforce retention rates are coming down to a more manageable level and are within a couple of percentage points of pre-COVID attrition levels, although not yet where the company wants them.
