Q3 2026 Earnings Call Summary

Q3 2026
Earnings Call Date:Oct 28, 2026|

Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call was strongly positive overall. Straumann reported accelerating organic growth, broad regional momentum, expanding digital and scanner adoption, progress in ClearCorrect, a growing innovation pipeline and reaffirmed revenue and margin guidance. The main challenges were Brazil's temporary demand weakness, uncertainty and potential pricing pressure from China's VBP 2.0, currency effects and cautious North American consumer conditions, but management expressed confidence in its strategy, execution and midterm targets.
Company Guidance
For 2026, barring unforeseen even, Straumann expects high single-digit organic revenue growth and an improvement in the core EBIT margin of around 140 to 170 basis points at constant 2025 exchange rates; its midterm guidance remains a 10% CAGR on the top line and a CAGR of 40 to 50 bps every year for earnings quality. China’s VBP 2.0 tender process is expected to be implemented in the first quarter of 2027, with a total portfolio price reduction of maximum 5% to 15% down; ClearCorrect remains on track to reach breakeven by the end of 2027, or in Q4 2027, while F.A.S.T Full Arch is expected to launch by very early January in North America and Europe and be a 2027 innovation supporting 2027 growth rate. The company expects strong double digit growth in China in Q4 and still high single or low double on Asia Pacific outside China, an FX impact of 70 to 80 bps on EBIT and roughly 200 bps on the top line, and to reduce its Swiss franc cost base by roughly 3 percentage points compared to last year, with roughly 4 percentage points expected on an isolated basis.
Strong Q3 Revenue and Organic Growth
Third-quarter revenue reached CHF 667.1 million, up 10.8% in Swiss francs, while organic growth accelerated to 9.2% despite a continued volatile macro environment. The company said this performance showed it continued gaining market share.
Solid Nine-Month Performance
For the first nine months of 2026, revenue exceeded CHF 2 billion, with organic growth of 8.3% and growth of 4.9% in Swiss francs. Regional contributions to organic growth were approximately CHF 68 million from EMEA, CHF 38 million from North America, CHF 29 million from Asia Pacific and CHF 22 million from Latin America.
EMEA Growth Accelerated
EMEA organic growth reached 10.5% in the third quarter and 8.9% for the first nine months. Growth was well distributed across mature and Eastern European markets, including Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Romania, Hungary, the Baltics, the Czech Republic, the Nordics and Turkey. Premium, challenger, digital and orthodontics franchises all grew either high single digit or low double digit.
North America Outperformed a Cautious Market
North America delivered 7.5% organic growth in the third quarter and 7.9% over nine months despite cautious consumer sentiment and broadly stable patient flow. Customer conversions in premium and challenger implantology and continued scanner demand supported the performance.
Asia Pacific Returned to Double-Digit Growth
Asia Pacific organic growth accelerated to 10.3% in the third quarter, bringing nine-month growth to 6.1%. Excluding China, the region performed well, supported by strong growth in Japan and India, iEXCEL and commercial activities around the challenger brand across Southeast Asia.
China Returned to Growth
China returned to growth in the third quarter after several challenging quarters, supported by stable patient flow and a lower comparative base. Management expects China to remain a healthy region in the fourth quarter because the comparative base will ease and the company has options across brands, price points and local manufacturing.
Implantology Portfolio Gaining Share
The iEXCEL implant system continued to be a major driver of new customer wins in the premium segment, while Neodent gained significant share in the challenger segment across all regions. The opening of the third Neodent factory in Curitiba adds capacity to support global expansion.
Large Core Market Opportunity
Straumann described itself as the clear global leader in implantology, with a 35% share in its core implant business and significant remaining headroom. The company said its positions in clear aligners, digital equipment and CAD/CAM prosthetics remain small relative to the opportunity.
Scanner Installed Base and Sales Momentum
The intraoral scanner installed base exceeded 65,000 units. In the first nine months of 2026, Straumann sold more intraoral scanner units than in all of 2025. Approximately two-thirds of current scanner units are the company's own technology, with SIRIOS expanding in both emerging and mature markets.
Higher-Margin SIRIOS Mix
Management said SIRIOS has a significantly higher gross margin than third-party 3Shape TRIOS technology, describing the gross margin on SIRIOS as at least twice as high as on 3Shape. The shift toward own-brand scanners supported both top-line growth and the bottom line.
AXS Platform Adoption Increased
Straumann AXS surpassed 20,000 regular active users connecting through intraoral scanners. Initial revenue-per-customer analysis showed AXS users were substantially more likely to reorder solutions than nonusers, although management noted the analysis was based on a small cohort over a 12-month period.
F.A.S.T. Molar Adoption
The F.A.S.T. Molar workflow can save clinicians and patients at least one appointment and an additional 30 minutes across the remaining appointments. More than 100,000 F.A.S.T. Molar abutments have been sold to date, demonstrating rapid adoption according to management.
F.A.S.T. Full Arch Innovation
The new SIRIOS APS technology is designed to simplify immediate Full Arch treatment by capturing implant positions immediately after surgery and sharing the digital file through the AXS platform. The F.A.S.T. Full Arch solution is expected to launch in the months to come, with launches expected in North America and Europe by very early January and support for 2027 growth.
ClearCorrect Progress and Lower Costs
ClearCorrect delivered double-digit growth in priority markets, including growth in North America, while production and operational improvements continued to reduce costs. Digital tools such as case assessment, outcome simulation and remote care were increasingly used; in September, outcome simulator was used in about 30% of case submissions and case assessments in almost 15%. The business remains on track to reach breakeven by the end of 2027.
Clinical Education Supports Adoption
Clinical education events were sold out, including International Esthetic Days in Copenhagen with 1,600 participants. Management said these events deepen customer relationships, drive adoption of new solutions and accelerate market penetration.
Full-Year 2026 Outlook Confirmed
The company confirmed its full-year outlook of high single-digit organic revenue growth and an improvement in core EBIT margin of around 140 to 170 basis points at constant 2025 exchange rates. Management attributed the margin outlook to revenue acceleration, disciplined cost management and a more efficient manufacturing footprint.
Midterm Growth and Profitability Commitments Reaffirmed
Management reaffirmed the midterm objective of a 10% top-line CAGR and a 40 to 50 basis point annual CAGR improvement in earnings quality. The company said the 2026 profit guidance increase was not a pull-forward effect and that it expected an uptick in profitability next year.
Manufacturing Footprint Optimization
The Shanghai campus is supplying a larger part of the private China market, while the Andover campus is up and running for the U.S. and South American markets. Management expects to reduce the Swiss-franc cost base by roughly 3 percentage points compared with last year, with further potential once the China VBP process takes place.
Broad 2027 Innovation Pipeline
Management outlined several 2027 growth initiatives, including SIRIOS APS and additional F.A.S.T. workflows, new prosthetic developments, a machined-neck iEXCEL design, the Neodent GT Plus implant system, new chairside 3D-printing technology, further 3Shape developments and wider availability of ClearCorrect's ClearPilot or streamlined offering subject to regulatory approvals.
Positive Regional and Strategic Confidence
Management said its innovation pipeline, customer conversion capabilities, digital reach, market-share gains and operational execution give it confidence in achieving its guidance and continuing to grow despite complex macroeconomic conditions.
