Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Strong Cash GenerationConsistent operating cash flow (~3.7T TTM) and positive free cash flow (~1.7T TTM) provide sustained internal funding for capex, dividends and strategic investments. This steadier cash generation cushions earnings volatility and supports execution of multi-year AI and network projects without immediate external financing.
Manageable Leverage And Stable Balance SheetImproving leverage and a reasonably stable balance-sheet profile give the company financial flexibility typical of resilient telecom operators. With debt ratios trending down, SK Telecom can fund infrastructure and AI expansion while maintaining capacity for shareholder returns and absorbing cyclical telecom stresses over the next several quarters.
Growing AI Data-center FranchiseRapid AI data-center revenue growth (+89% YoY) and a phased expansion roadmap position SK Telecom to capture structural demand for onshore AI compute. Building DC scale, partnerships (NVIDIA collaboration) and tighter semiconductor ties can create durable, high‑margin enterprise offerings as AI workloads migrate to large, specialized facilities.
Bears Say
Sharp Revenue Decline And Weaker ProfitabilityA ~26% TTM revenue decline and compressed net margin (~2.2%) reflect structural pressure on topline and earnings quality. Sustained weaker revenue and lower margins reduce reinvestment capacity and ROE, raising the bar for meaningful operational improvements to restore historic profitability levels over the coming 2–6 months.
Material Handset Subscriber ShortfallA nearly 1 million handset subscriber shortfall versus last year, only partially reduced by recent promotions, signals persistent demand and market-share headwinds. Lower subscriber base constrains recurring revenue growth and ARPU recovery, making sustainable earnings improvement reliant on durable subscriber regain and retention strategies.
AI Profitability And Financing UncertaintyWhile AI revenue is growing, management has not provided margins or KPIs and is evaluating capital structures (partner financing, potential capital increases). Large planned investments (15GW roadmap, affiliate injections) create execution and funding risk; unclear AI economics could strain returns if scale or margins disappoint.
