Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
H1 2026 Earnings And Cash RecoveryThe sharp improvement in revenue, EBITDA, profit and operating cash flow indicates materially stronger earnings capacity and internal funding generation. If operations remain stable, this recovery can support debt reduction, dividends and high-return investment over the next several quarters.
Large, Long-life Resource BaseA substantial resource base and long-life assets provide operational visibility beyond the current reporting period. This supports sustained production potential, preserves organic growth options and gives management flexibility to sequence investment across multiple mining regions and commodities.
Renewable Energy Savings PlatformExpanding renewable capacity can structurally reduce energy costs while lowering emissions, strengthening the competitiveness and resilience of mining operations. The stated savings target provides a potential recurring benefit to margins and supports progress on sustainability commitments over the medium term.
Bears Say
Fatality And Safety RiskFatalities remain a material operational and reputational weakness, even alongside improved serious-injury performance. Persistent safety challenges can disrupt production, require management attention and increase stakeholder pressure, making a sustained improvement in safety essential to protecting long-term operating continuity.
Kloof Production And Mine-life DeteriorationThe Kloof disruption reduces near-term output and weakens the mine's remaining production profile, with affected blocks now carrying about one year of life. Lower volumes can raise unit costs, reduce the contribution from a core operation and make group production recovery more dependent on other assets.
Keliber Impairment And Capital ExposureThe impairment signals that Keliber's expected economics have weakened, while substantial remaining spending keeps capital tied to a project facing market uncertainty. A staged ramp-up may reduce execution exposure, but further funding needs could compete with debt reduction and returns to shareholders.

Company Description
Sibanye Stillwater
Sibanye Stillwater Limited, along with its various subsidiaries, functions as a prominent precious metals mining entity with operations spanning South Africa, the United States, Zimbabwe, Canada, and Argentina. The company's primary outputs encompass gold and Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) – specifically palladium, platinum, and rhodium – alongside secondary commodities such as iridium, ruthenium, nickel, copper, and chrome. In the United States, its assets include the East Boulder and Stillwater mines situated in Montana. These are supported by the Columbus metallurgical complex, which is responsible for smelting the mined material into PGM-rich filter cake and also conducts PGM recycling activities. Its extensive portfolio in South Africa features PGM operations at Kroondal, Rustenburg, Marikana, and Platinum Mile. Gold production stems from surface facilities like Driefontein, Kloof, and Cooke, located on the West Rand of the Witwatersrand Basin, as well as the Beatrix mine in the southern Free State. Further international interests include the Mimosa mine in the southern region of Zimbabwe, the Marathon PGM project in Ontario, Canada, and the Altar and Rio Grande copper-gold ventures nestled within the Andes in northwest Argentina. Sibanye Stillwater also maintains holdings in surface tailings retreatment facilities and other South African gold projects, including Hoedspruit, Burnstone, and additional sites in the southern Free State. The company was founded in 2013 and maintains its headquarters in Weltevreden Park, South Africa.

SBSWN Earnings Call
Q2 2026

Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call presents a largely positive operational and financial turnaround: strong commodity price tailwinds, record/near‑record EBITDA, a substantial reduction in leverage, restored dividend, and clear progress on sustainability and mechanization programs. These positives are tempered by significant one-off cash impacts (Appian settlement, hedge losses), material impairments (ZAR 15.8bn) and safety‑driven production cuts (notably at Kloof) including six fatalities. Viewed holistically the improvements in core cash generation, balance sheet strength and a disciplined capital allocation framework suggest the company has strengthened its position while addressing legacy and project risks.View all MX:SBSWN earnings summariesSBSWN Stock 12 Month Forecast
