Q3 2026 Earnings Call Summary

Q3 2026
Earnings Call Date:Oct 29, 2026|% Change Since:-7.52%|
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive

The call was cautiously positive. Pinterest reported record user growth, deepening engagement, strong cash generation, meaningful AI and performance-advertising progress, and continued UCAN re-acceleration. However, the Q3 revenue miss, European regulatory headwinds, international go-to-market disruption, lower ad pricing, and a slower and wider Q4 revenue outlook temper the outlook.

Company Guidance

For Q4 2026, Pinterest expects revenue in the range of $1.425 billion-$1.475 billion, representing 8%-12% year-over-year growth, with foreign exchange expected to be a modest headwind; the outlook assumes continued strong revenue growth in UCAN, continued pressure on international revenue growth from cross-border sellers, and international go-to-market changes whose associated revenue benefits are not expected to fully offset this pressure in Q4. Pinterest expects adjusted EBITDA in the range of $538 million-$588 million, non-GAAP cost of revenue to grow sequentially from Q3 2026 at a low teens rate, and full year 2026 adjusted EBITDA margins of approximately 30%; management also said Q4 is tracking broadly in line with the growth that we saw in Q3, cross-border spend is not expected to come back for the holiday, and it is not guiding next year.

  • Record User Growth and EngagementPinterest delivered its 13th straight quarter of record users and its 12th straight quarter of double-digit user growth. Global MAUs reached 661 million, up 10% year over year. UCAN MAUs reached 107 million, up 4%; Europe reached 161 million, up 7%; and rest-of-world MAUs reached 394 million, up 13%.
  • Deepening UCAN EngagementIn UCAN, searches, boards created, and outbound clicks all grew faster than users in Q3. Management said engagement is deepening, and UCAN revenue grew 14% in Q3 and 15% year to date, representing a meaningful acceleration from 2025.
  • Global Revenue Growth and Stronger Advertiser DemandQ3 global revenue was $1.174 billion, up 12% on both a reported and constant-currency basis. Strength came from the consideration objective, particularly performance-driven CPC advertisers, as well as the awareness objective. Retail remained strong, while financial services, health, and travel were smaller but faster-growing verticals.
  • Regional Revenue Strength Outside EuropeU.S. and Canada revenue was $894 million, up 14%, driven by retail, financial services, and health. Rest-of-world revenue was $87 million, up 24% on a reported basis and 21% on a constant-currency basis.
  • Large and Commercially Relevant Search ActivityUsers conduct more than 80 billion searches on Pinterest each month. The vast majority are visual and more than half are commercial. Approximately 70% of search journeys begin with a proactive recommendation from Pinterest's AI-enabled systems.
  • Gen Z Growth and Shopping IntentGen Z represented 57% of Pinterest users and was the company's fastest-growing and most engaged cohort across monthly retention, saves, and sessions. Two-thirds of Gen Z users said they come to Pinterest to shop, and Gen Z ARPU was described as comparable to millennials and UCAN.
  • Efficient AI Infrastructure and Product DevelopmentPinterest said its compact fit-for-purpose and post-trained open-weight models achieve a cost per transaction of less than 8% of comparable closed proprietary models. The company is continuing to invest in GPU capacity, AI, and product initiatives.
  • Pinterest Assistant Reaches General AvailabilityPinterest Assistant became generally available in the U.S. More than half of Pinterest searches are commercial, compared with approximately 80% of searches using Pinterest Assistant. Ask mode is beginning to scale in the U.S., and the company is adding agentic capabilities while keeping users in control of decisions.
  • Expansion of AI-Powered Shopping ExperiencesPinterest continued expanding products including Beauty Guides and Restyle. Restyle launched in beta in Q3 and uses Pinterest Intelligence, shoppable catalog products, and Pinterest Canvas to help users reimagine rooms from photos.
  • New Performance Advertising FormatsVisual Search Ads launched in beta and are designed to reach users in high-intent moments, including visual search results and Pin close-ups. Pinterest also launched an app-install objective in beta globally with qualified advertisers, opening a new mobile app advertising budget pool.
  • Improved Advertiser Controls and MeasurementPinterest Performance+ adoption continued as advertisers gained the ability to add keywords and interests, track results for each, and prioritize product groups. More sophisticated advertisers integrated their in-house measurement systems with Pinterest's AI bidding tools. In early testing with a leading e-commerce platform, new-customer ROAS was 77% higher in the advertiser's proprietary measurement source of truth.
  • Broader Programmatic Demand PartnershipsPinterest expanded its programmatic partnerships and now works with DSPs representing two-thirds of the DSP market, including Google DV360, Amazon DVA+, and Yahoo DSP, with Magnite as its supply-side partner. The company also cited its tvScientific acquisition and advances in privacy-preserving technologies as supporting broader audience monetization.
  • Strong Cash Generation and ProfitabilityPinterest delivered $339 million of adjusted EBITDA with a 29% adjusted EBITDA margin and generated $300 million of free cash flow in Q3. On a trailing 12-month basis, free cash flow was nearly $1.26 billion, representing 90% free cash flow conversion. Cash equivalents and marketable securities totaled $1.5 billion.
  • International Go-to-Market ProgressManagement said the toughest parts of the international sales and personnel transition were behind the company and that new leadership was beginning to ramp. Core European enterprise growth, excluding cross-border sellers, re-accelerated in Q4 quarter to date to above its Q2 level.
  • Fourth-Quarter Profit Outlook and Full-Year Margin TargetPinterest expects Q4 adjusted EBITDA of $538 million to $588 million and continues to expect full-year 2026 adjusted EBITDA margins of approximately 30%.
