Q3 2026 Earnings Call Summary

Q3 2026
Earnings Call Date:Oct 20, 2026|% Change Since:0.00%|
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive

The call was broadly positive: the company delivered stable sales, continued Consumer Products growth, strong cost savings, improved gross and operating profitability, year-to-date EBITDA and EPS growth, and maintained a healthy balance sheet. These positives outweighed the challenges of weak consumer demand, retailer inventory caution, cost inflation, lower exports, higher financing and SG&A expenses, and unresolved transaction timing. Management remained confident in its innovation, private label, pet food, efficiency, and 2027 recovery plans.

Company Guidance

Management expects weak consumer demand to stretch through the end of the year, with cost pressures continuing through the fourth quarter, maybe at slightly lower levels. Going into 2027, it expects steady improvements in demand supported by an economic recovery that is slowly gaining traction, improving growth rates and increased, although still moderate, domestic spending; Away from Home is expected to have a slightly better fourth quarter and hopefully, a much better 2027. Consumer Products could get back to growing at the rate achieved in the first half of the year, or mid-single digit, if domestic consumption picks up. Private label will likely a little bit more than double in size this year, with the same thing expected next year, while CapEx is expected to remain around MXN 100 million and MXN 120 million for the year and the following years, and the long-term EBITDA margin range remains 25% to 27%.

  • Consumer Products Delivered a Fifth Consecutive Quarter of GrowthConsumer Products net sales increased 1.8%, with an evenly split contribution from 0.9% volume growth and 0.9% price and mix. The business has grown for the fifth consecutive quarter, and market shares remained very healthy.
  • Quarterly Sales Held SteadyThird-quarter sales were MXN 13.4 billion, in line with last year, with total volume and price mix both flat.
  • Strong Cost Reduction Program ResultsCost of goods sold decreased 2.9%, while the cost reduction program generated approximately MXN 450 million of savings during the quarter. Savings came from global fiber contracting, sourcing changes, alternative fibers, product redesigns, new raw materials in nonwoven fabrics, diaper geometry redesigns, and logistics and distribution efficiencies.
  • Improved Gross and Operating ProfitabilityGross profit increased 3.7% and gross margin was 40.3%. Operating profit increased 2.3% and operating margin was 21.9%, up 60 basis points year-over-year.
  • EBITDA Growth and Margin Within Long-Term RangeEBITDA was MXN 3.4 billion, up 1.6% year-over-year, with an EBITDA margin of 25.5%, within the company's long-term range.
  • Positive Year-to-Date Earnings ProgressFor the year, sales were up 2%, while EBITDA increased 7% and earnings per share increased 8%.
  • Healthy Balance Sheet and LiquidityThe company reported MXN 20.2 billion of cash as of September 30, a net debt-to-EBITDA ratio of 0.8x, and EBITDA-to-net-interest coverage of 9x.
  • Distribution Efficiency Offset Cost HeadwindsDistribution expenses were flat despite cost headwinds, supported by continued improvements to the company's footprint and streamlined logistics operations.
  • Away from Home Business Improved SequentiallyAway from Home declined 4.7% year-over-year but improved 1.7% sequentially, with a particularly stronger September. Management expects a slightly better fourth quarter and a much better 2027 as the economy gains traction.
  • 2027 Economic Recovery IndicatorsManagement expects steady improvements in demand in 2027, supported by an economic recovery that is slowly gaining traction. Private investment is increasing, public investment is expected to grow based on announced government plans, industrial production has gained momentum, construction activity remains resilient, and salary mass is expected to continue growing.
  • Innovation Pipeline AcceleratingThe company reported strong innovation activity in feminine care, adult care, and diapers. It is introducing a new diaper with a new absorbent core that management described as first in market in Mexico and by far the best absorbent core in the market, with additional innovations expected to come to market in 2027.
  • Technology-Enabled Efficiency PlansManagement is accelerating plans involving automation, digitalization, and other technology applications to improve end-to-end efficiency and costs, with these efforts expected to ramp up during next year and 2028.
  • Private Label Business Expanding RapidlyThe company is making inroads with several clients in private label. Management said the business will likely more than double in size this year and expects it to double again next year. Growth is coming from both gaining business and the overall expansion of private label in some categories.
  • Branded Products and Private Label Being Pursued TogetherManagement is supporting branded products through innovation, communication, and consumer engagement while also expanding private label. Value shares were described as either increasing or stable and very healthy, and private-label growth has for the most part not been against the company's products.
  • Pet Food Showing Encouraging Consumer ResponseAfter a little over a year in the category, the company reported good results in pet food, particularly a very good consumer response to its premium offerings. The business is growing as expected, and the company plans to bring improvements and innovations to market while continuing to invest behind the category.
  • Broad-Based CapEx Supporting Growth and ProductivityAlthough the quarterly CapEx cash outflow appeared higher, management said annual CapEx will remain around MXN 100 million to MXN 120 million, both this year and in following years. Investments are directed toward innovation, productivity and efficiency measures, and capacity where needed.
  • Long-Term Margin ConfidenceManagement reaffirmed a long-term margin range of 25% to 27% and said it feels comfortable that the company will be able to stay within that range, while acknowledging that individual quarters may move above or below it.
