Q3 2026 Earnings Call Summary

Q3 2026
Earnings Call Date:Oct 22, 2026|% Change Since:-1.85%|
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive

The call was strongly positive, supported by 54% year-over-year product sales growth, continued momentum in both MG and CIDP, positive ALKIVIA and FB102 data, a broadening pipeline and expectations for up to five potential launches in 2027. The main challenges were the dermatomyositis confirmatory-trial requirement, the Sjögren's futility outcome, elevated planned operating expenses and limited formal revenue guidance, but these issues were outweighed by the company's commercial performance, financial strength and pipeline progress.

Company Guidance

Management expects 10 molecules in clinical development by the end of this year, combined R&D and SG&A expenses of approximately $4 billion for 2026, a 45% increase year-over-year from 2025, and for 2027 said, “please do not assume another 45% increase,” with investors to “Think of about half of that 45% if you need something for your models now”; more guidance is expected at JPMorgan. The company expects 5 potential launches across its portfolio in 2027, or “up to 5 launches in a single year in the U.S.,” including a pediatric MG PDUFA date of February 2027, a VYVGART Hytrulo auto-injector in the second half of 2027, an IMNM sBLA by year-end, and potentially MMN following the EMPASSION readout in December and a priority-review application if data are positive. Management expects about 2 quarters after approval to get payer policies in place for IMNM, expects 10 clinical-stage molecules by the end of this year, is “well on track” for 10 labeled indications and 5 molecules in Phase III development by the end of the decade, and reiterated Vision 2030 targets of 50,000 patients by the end of the decade.

  • Strong Third-Quarter Revenue GrowthProduct net sales reached $1.7 billion, up 54% year-over-year and 13% quarter-over-quarter. Growth in the number of patients served continued to drive revenue performance.
  • Broad Regional Sales MomentumU.S. product net sales were $1.5 billion and grew 16% quarter-over-quarter, with net pricing broadly consistent with prior quarters and gross-to-net deductions of 22%. Japan sales were $81 million and grew 47% year-over-year, while Rest of World sales were $158 million and grew 70% year-over-year, reflecting strong underlying demand. Product supplied to Zai Lab in China contributed $11 million.
  • Operating Profit and Margin ExpansionOperating profit was $486 million, representing a 28% operating margin. Excluding $150 million of Forte transaction-related costs, the operating margin was 37%. Management said revenue growth continues to outpace expense growth and is supporting operating leverage.
  • Financial Strength After Forte AcquisitionThe company ended the quarter with $3.7 billion in cash, cash equivalents and current financial assets after paying a net $2.1 billion for the Forte acquisition. The year-to-date effective tax rate was 10%.
  • VYVGART Continues Strong Commercial MomentumManagement reported sustained growth nearly five years after launch, with the quarter among the company's strongest quarters for patient growth. Both MG and CIDP continued to grow well, with no slowdown in CIDP and no indication that MG alone was driving quarterly growth.
  • Seronegative MG Launch and Coverage ProgressFive months into the seronegative MG launch, seronegative MG was a key contributor to growth. Access teams secured coverage for approximately 96% of covered lives, and most payers removed serotype testing from VYVGART policies. Approximately 10% of seronegative prescribers were new to VYVGART, while prescribing also increased among acetylcholine receptor antibody-positive patients through a reported halo effect.
  • Expansion Across the MG SpectrumThe company submitted supplemental BLAs for pediatric MG and ocular MG. The pediatric MG PDUFA date is February 2027, and management said these potential label expansions could position VYVGART earlier in the treatment paradigm and extend its reach across the MG spectrum. Real-world data from more than 1,100 patients showed that half of patients who started VYVGART within a year of diagnosis reached minimal symptom expression.
  • Long-Term CIDP Data Supports AdoptionThe company has followed patients through ADHERE and ADHERE+ for more than five years. Nearly 40% of patients who initially responded to VYVGART reached an INCAT score of 0 or 1 during the open-label extension, reflecting little to no functional disability. Management also cited treatment-naive data, a Phase IV switch study supporting a one-week transition from IVIg, and the convenience and flexibility of the prefilled syringe.
  • Positive ALKIVIA Results and IMNM OpportunityALKIVIA demonstrated consistent and clinically meaningful results in both immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy and dermatomyositis patients. The company plans to file an sBLA for IMNM by year-end and has breakthrough therapy designation. IMNM affects approximately 20,000 patients in the U.S., has no approved treatment options, and was described as an urgent unmet need. The company is preparing medical, payer, patient-support and commercial infrastructure for a potential 2027 launch.
  • Potential 2027 Launch CadenceManagement expects up to five potential U.S. launches in 2027, including pediatric MG, ocular MG, the VYVGART Hytrulo auto-injector, IMNM and potentially empasiprubart in MMN if the December data are positive. The company expects to introduce the auto-injector in the second half of 2027 and plans to seek priority review for empasiprubart in MMN if the data support an application.
  • Empasiprubart Advances Toward MMN ReadoutThe Phase III EMPASSION study in MMN is expected to read out in December. Earlier Phase II ARDA data showed improvements in grip strength and function, a substantial reduction in IVIg retreatment, and sustained grip-strength improvements through 64 weeks. EMPASSION is a head-to-head study against IVIg designed to evaluate whether empasiprubart can deliver comparable efficacy while reducing treatment burden.
  • Empasiprubart's Complement Biology and Potential ExpansionManagement said empasiprubart was engineered to remove C2 and achieve sustained C2 suppression while maintaining the ability to kill encapsulated bacteria. The company believes C2 inhibition could address a broad range of complement-driven diseases. In CIDP, management said empasiprubart could potentially benefit patients who did not respond to VYVGART, with all-comers enrolled to help evaluate the mechanism across patient types.
  • Positive FB102 Phase II Celiac ResultsPositive Phase II results for FB102 in celiac disease reinforced the company's belief in CD122 as a target. Management cited consistent efficacy across measures including symptoms and histology, together with a favorable safety profile. FB102 is considered ready to advance into Phase III, with celiac as the most advanced opportunity.
  • FB102 Pipeline-in-a-Product PotentialThe company views FB102 as a potential first-in-class and best-in-class asset with opportunities beyond celiac disease, including vitiligo and alopecia, as well as additional autoimmune indications. Management is developing a Phase III plan for celiac and evaluating the most efficient development path for vitiligo, with a broader update expected at JPMorgan or early next year. The company also plans to move FB102 from intravenous to subcutaneous administration as quickly as possible.
  • Pipeline Maturity and Vision 2030 ProgressThe company expects to have 10 molecules in clinical development by the end of 2026. Empasiprubart is advancing toward its first Phase III readout in MMN, adimanebart is advancing to Phase III in CMS, ARGX-121 is in Phase II in IgA nephropathy, and additional first-in-class molecules are advancing across new mechanisms and disease areas. Management said it remains on track toward Vision 2030, including 50,000 patients, 10 labeled indications and five molecules in Phase III development by the end of the decade.
  • Disciplined Development and Investment FrameworkManagement said development programs include futility analyses and other mechanisms to support disciplined investment decisions, including the ability to stop programs early. The company expects approximately $4 billion of combined R&D and SG&A expense in 2026, reflecting Forte-related costs, investment in FB102, continued pipeline progress, commercial infrastructure for IMNM and work associated with 10 clinical-stage assets. Management characterized these investments as being made from a position of financial strength while continuing to pursue margin expansion.
