Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Backlog ExpansionRecord awards and substantial backlog growth provide multi-year revenue visibility and support sustained project activity. This expanded pipeline can improve capacity utilization and strengthen Ameresco’s position in energy infrastructure markets over the next several years.
Recurring Energy ServicesGrowth in operating energy assets and long-term O&M services expands recurring revenue beyond one-time project delivery. A larger installed base and service backlog can improve business durability, diversify cash sources, and deepen customer relationships.
Revenue And EBITDA GrowthRevenue and adjusted EBITDA growth indicate that Ameresco is converting its expanding project platform into higher operating scale. Continued growth in earnings before financing and non-cash charges can support reinvestment and improve operating leverage if execution remains consistent.
Bears Say
Weak Cash GenerationPersistent negative operating and free cash flow indicates that reported profits are not consistently converting into internally generated funding. Working-capital and project-timing pressure can increase reliance on financing and constrain flexibility during expansion.
Elevated LeverageElevated leverage increases financial risk for a project-driven company whose cash flows can vary with execution and billing timing. Higher debt also limits capital-allocation flexibility and leaves more earnings exposed to interest costs and refinancing requirements.
Project Execution And Timing RiskLarge data-center awards do not eliminate delivery risk because projects still depend on permits, interconnections, equipment and other development milestones. Delays or cost pressure could defer revenue, weaken margins, and postpone the expected benefit of the backlog.

Company Description
Ameresco
Ameresco, Inc. operates as a clean technology integrator, offering a broad spectrum of solutions focused on energy efficiency and sustainable energy generation across the United States, Canada, and global markets. The company serves diverse businesses and organizations by implementing strategies for enhanced energy efficiency, critical infrastructure improvements, bolstered energy security and resilience, improved asset longevity, and the deployment of renewable energy systems. Its operations are structured into distinct segments: U.S. Regions, U.S. Federal, Canada, and Non-Solar Distributed Generation. Beyond this, the company distributes photovoltaic (PV) solar products and integrated systems, offers specialized consulting, and provides enterprise-level energy management solutions. Notably, Ameresco also owns and manages a wind power facility situated in Ireland. Its broad client base includes federal, state, and local governmental bodies, healthcare organizations, educational establishments, airports, public housing entities, universities, and a wide spectrum of commercial and industrial clients. AMRC Earnings Call
Q2 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call conveyed a largely positive outlook driven by record awards, substantial backlog growth, improved margins, growing energy asset and O&M businesses, and strengthened capital via the Neogenyx JV. The company acknowledged near-term cash conversion and working capital timing pressures, modest GAAP profitability impacted by asset growth and transaction-related non-controlling interests, and execution risks tied to permitting, supply chain, and project timelines for large data center opportunities. Overall, the upside from robust awards, diversified recurring revenue streams, and financing support outweigh the near-term operational and timing challenges.View all MX:AMRC earnings summariesAMRC Stock 12 Month Forecast
