Q3 2026 Earnings Call Summary

Q3 2026
Earnings Call Date:Oct 21, 2026|% Change Since:-2.09%|
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive

The call was predominantly positive. The company reported almost 10% sales growth, 35% EBITDA growth, a 250-basis-point EBITDA margin expansion, positive services EBITDA, continued U.S. growth, stronger cash generation, and significant deleveraging despite weak construction, low consumer confidence, elevated resin costs, and soft demand in Argentina. The main challenges were margin pressure from resin costs, lower U.S. EBITDA margin, ongoing services investment and year-to-date losses, working-capital absorption, and ROIC remaining below cost of capital. Overall, management characterized the quarter as evidence that its strategy is working while acknowledging that the operating environment remains challenging.

Company Guidance

Management expects continued growth in products, with “just the Mexico new products” at “about 8% of all of Grupo's revenues”; services’ sustainability depends on growth rate and unit economics, which “continue to get better,” while the company is pushing for “as much growth as possible,” with services “on track towards sustainable breakeven.” Management said the 3Q 2026 performance is structural “in the sense that we are getting scale both in bebbia and water treatment,” with growth a “big part of the stability, specifically of the EBITDA,” and that water-treatment-plant profits can be “much more stable for the future.” Priorities remain “margin discipline, deleveraging, and steady improvement in services.” Resins “will continue to be volatile,” although they have “kept below what we saw in the second quarter”; the company expects to “rotate more inventory in the fourth quarter,” and hopes working capital “continues to be more stable as we move along.”

  • Strong Quarterly Sales and EBITDA GrowthNet sales reached MXN 2.9 billion, up almost 10%, with products and services each growing around 10% and every region delivering growth. EBITDA increased 35%, with a 13.2% margin, 250 basis points above last year. This marked the fifth consecutive quarter of year-over-year EBITDA improvement.
  • Improved Operating LeverageOperating expenses grew less than 3% against almost 10% sales growth, driving operating income 51% higher and supporting the 35% EBITDA increase.
  • Lower Financing Costs and Near-Breakeven Net ResultNet financing costs fell to MXN 164 million from MXN 354 million a year ago, mainly due to lower foreign exchange effects in Argentina. The higher operating income and lower financing costs brought the net result close to breakeven.
  • Deleveraging and Stronger Balance SheetNet debt to EBITDA declined to 2.2x from 3.2x a year ago and 2.3x last quarter. Total financial debt closed at MXN 4.4 billion, 5% lower than a year ago, while net financial debt was MXN 3.3 billion, approximately MXN 500 million below last year.
  • Mexico Margin Expansion Despite Weak MarketMexico sales grew close to 5%, while EBITDA margin expanded to almost 18%; management also cited an 18% margin and a 150-basis-point expansion. Performance was supported by tight expense control, sharper commercial discipline, new strategic solutions, operating leverage, and a better services margin.
  • Strategic Products Gaining TractionNew solutions beyond the traditional core portfolio, including vertical tanks and rainwater harvesting systems, accounted for close to 8% of Grupo sales in Mexico and Central America. Management expects continued product growth based on closer customer engagement, improved go-to-market capabilities, and digital tools.
  • United States Growth and Continued Positive EBITDAThe United States delivered double-digit growth, with sales up 21% in pesos and around 31% in dollars. Growth was driven by a vertical-focused commercial strategy and stronger demand for water storage and industrial and chemical applications. The business posted its sixth consecutive quarter of positive EBITDA.
  • Growth Across Other CountriesPeru, Central America, and Brazil together grew 25%. Peru benefited from improving customer investment sentiment, Central America continued growing at double-digit rates, and Brazil continued building its water treatment platform. United States and other countries together represented 27% of group sales, up from 24% a year ago.
  • Argentina Reached EBITDA BreakevenArgentina's EBITDA was at breakeven compared with a loss in the third quarter of last year. Management attributed the improvement to pricing and efficiency initiatives rather than a recovery in the market.
  • Services EBITDA Turned PositiveServices sales grew 10%, while segment EBITDA was positive at MXN 4 million versus a loss of MXN 63 million a year ago, a MXN 67 million improvement. Management said services remained on track toward sustainable breakeven.
  • Bebbia Subscriber and Unit-Economics ProgressBebbia ended September with more than 208,000 active subscribers after adding more than 14,000 net subscribers during the quarter. Management said unit economics continued to improve, with each additional customer contributing to higher free cash flow excluding investments for growth.
  • Water Treatment Businesses ScalingWater treatment plants grew in Mexico and Brazil. Management said the Mexico business has been profitable for a while and that Brazil is reaching a scale where profits can become more stable.
  • First Nine Months Delivered Broad ImprovementFor the first nine months, sales grew almost 5% to MXN 8.6 billion, gross margin expanded 20 basis points to 42%, operating income increased 20%, and EBITDA grew 18% to MXN 1.1 billion. EBITDA margin was 13%, 150 basis points above last year.
  • Products Segment Maintained ProfitabilityProducts sales grew almost 10%, with growth across all regions. Products EBITDA increased 10% with a stable 15% margin, while year-to-date products EBITDA grew 16% and margin expanded 160 basis points to 16%.
  • Cash Generation ImprovedCash ended the quarter at MXN 1.1 billion, approximately MXN 270 million higher than a year ago. First-nine-month operating cash flow was MXN 1.2 billion, up 17% year over year.
  • Capital Expenditure Remained Within TargetCapEx totaled MXN 317 million, under 4% of sales and within the previously discussed 3%-4% range. Most investment went to services in Mexico where contracts and customers were confirmed.
  • Shareholder Capital Reimbursement ProposedThe Board approved a proposal for a capital reimbursement of MXN 0.33 per share, equivalent to approximately MXN 160 million, subject to shareholder approval. Together with the MXN 0.17 per share paid earlier in the year, total 2026 cash distributions would reach MXN 0.50 per share.
  • Technology and Digital Infrastructure ProgressAI and digital tools are being used in sales, service, planning, and finance. The company is also progressing according to plan on a newer ERP beginning with bebbia, a more integrated customer digital experience, and stronger data and AI capabilities.
  • Environmental and Social RecognitionGrupo Rotoplas reported continued progress against its AGUA Strategy. Expansión ranked the company among the 10 most responsible companies in Mexico, at number nine out of 183 participants. The company was again recognized as a water responsible company in Peru, delivered sanitation kits with Habitat for Humanity in Argentina, and launched the second edition of its women's development program with 39 participants across four countries.
  • Community Water-Access InitiativeThrough the Rotogotas de Ayuda campaign in Cuetzalan, Puebla, the company supported Masehual Siuamej, an organization of indigenous women artisans, benefiting more than 100 families facing water vulnerability.
