Eisai Co., Ltd. is a Japanese pharmaceutical firm that develops, manufactures, and markets a broad spectrum of medical and healthcare products. Its significant therapeutic contributions include Aricept, prescribed for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and dementia with Lewy bodies; Methycobal, targeting peripheral neuropathy; and Fycompa, an antiepileptic medication used as an adjunctive treatment for partial-onset and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures. The company's product line further encompasses Lyrica for pain management, and Dayvigo, an anti-insomnia agent formulated for adults. In the field of oncology, Eisai offers Lenvima, a molecularly targeted anticancer drug utilized for thyroid cancer, renal cell carcinoma (when administered alongside everolimus), and hepatocellular carcinoma. Another key cancer treatment is Halaven, an anticancer agent functioning as a microtubule dynamics inhibitor, indicated for breast cancer and liposarcoma. Additionally, Eisai provides Pariet, a proton-pump inhibitor effective in managing gastric and duodenal ulcers, reflux esophagitis, and the eradication of Helicobacter pylori infections. It also distributes Humira, a fully human anti-TNF-alpha monoclonal antibody employed in the treatment of autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis. For consumer wellness, its offerings include Chocola BB plus, a vitamin B2 supplement beneficial for rough skin and stomatitis, along with a diverse collection of other items, such as third-class over-the-counter (OTC) drugs, designated quasi-drugs, and health-promoting foods. Originally established in 1941 under the name Nihon Eisai Co., Ltd., the company adopted its current name, Eisai Co., Ltd., in 1955 and operates from its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.
