Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call was cautiously optimistic. Revenue remained under pressure across the group and all four brands, with declines driven by market conditions, currency, store rationalization, channel changes, and planned portfolio actions. However, management emphasized substantial profitability improvement, lower costs, stronger margins, positive e-commerce and like-for-like trends, improved wholesale performance at Lanvin and Sergio Rossi, and stabilization at Wolford. The number and significance of the operational and profitability improvements outweighed the revenue-related challenges.
Company Guidance
For the second half, Lanvin Group’s priorities are to continue executing the reset and transformation agenda, optimize its retail footprint, pursue growth opportunities across different markets, channels, and product categories, expand partnerships and collaborations including through asset-light models, remain disciplined on costs, working capital, and cash, and selectively invest behind areas that can generate the strongest returns. The group will continue to optimize its brand portfolio, with 151 directly operated stores by the end of June 2026 and ongoing rationalization of underperforming locations; Lanvin will focus on converting the improved foundation into further growth, Wolford will strengthen wholesale, expand e-commerce and marketplace initiatives, and continue to improve productivity and customer engagement, St. John has two capsule collections planned for the second half and will continue developing proprietary yarns, and Sergio Rossi will capitalize on the stronger reception of its SS27 collection, improve wholesale and sell-through, and rebuild the margin through supplier negotiation, procurement discipline, and supply chain optimization.
Material Profitability Improvement
Group gross margin improved to 59% from 57.7%. Management reported contribution profit margin improvement of 7.7 percentage points and adjusted EBITDA margin improvement of 10.7 percentage points; the detailed financial review cited contribution profit margin moving from -15.6% to -8.9% and adjusted EBITDA margin from -45% to -34%. Contribution profit improved by approximately EUR 10 million and adjusted EBITDA by approximately EUR 17 million, reflecting efficiency programs, lower selling expenses, and a more disciplined base cost structure.
Leaner Operating Model and Cost Reductions
The group continued reducing its cost base while selectively maintaining or increasing investment in creativity, product, and customer engagement. Since the first half of 2023, brand-level G&A declined by approximately 30% at Lanvin, 50% at Wolford, 45% at Sergio Rossi, and 43% at St. John.
Improving Digital and Retail Foundations
The group's e-commerce business returned to growth in the first half of 2026. The directly operated store network was reduced from 174 at the end of 2025 to 151 at the end of June 2026 as the company continued optimizing its retail footprint, while like-for-like performance and digital momentum improved.
Lanvin Wholesale and Margin Progress
Lanvin's like-for-like boutique sales remained positive despite store closures, while wholesale revenue increased 16%, supported by earlier Fall/Winter deliveries. Gross margin expanded by almost 390 basis points to 58.2%, and the contribution loss narrowed from EUR 12.3 million to EUR 6.2 million.
Lanvin Creative Momentum
Lanvin's FW26 Paris runway received a strong response from the market, and the brand marked the 100th anniversary of Lanvin Menswear while further strengthening its leadership.
Wolford Stabilization and Digital Growth
Wolford's underlying business showed encouraging stabilization. Like-for-like retail remained positive, e-commerce grew 22%, and gross margin recovered from 56% to approximately 60%. Partner sell-through was described as encouraging, with plans to strengthen wholesale, expand e-commerce and marketplace initiatives, and improve productivity and customer engagement.
St. John E-Commerce and Margin Strength
St. John's e-commerce business grew 31% in its reporting currency, supported by more effective digital acquisition, improved marketing ROI, and growth in its new customer base. Gross margin increased to 69% and contribution margin improved to 12.3%.
St. John New Growth Channels and Product Development
St. John is developing new channels, including concession-based models, and plans two capsule collections in the second half under its new creative leadership. The brand is also continuing development of proprietary yarns to reinforce craftsmanship and product differentiation.
Sergio Rossi Wholesale Momentum
Sergio Rossi wholesale revenue, excluding third-party production, increased 21% year-over-year, demonstrating renewed appetite from partners and providing a stronger base for the second half. The brand also reported stronger reception of its SS27 collection.
Strategic Transformation Priorities
For the second half, management plans to continue the transformation and retail-footprint reset, pursue growth across markets, channels, and product categories, expand partnerships and collaborations, use asset-light models, maintain discipline on costs, working capital, and cash, and optimize the brand portfolio toward opportunities with the strongest long-term potential.
Leadership and Supply Chain Progress
Wolford entered a new leadership chapter with Marco Pozzo as CFO and Chairman. The brand also continued strengthening supply chain capabilities and advancing its ESG initiatives.
