Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Strong Liquidity PositionIGO’s cash balance (AUD 299m) and a AUD 300m undrawn facility provide a durable liquidity buffer. This reduces refinancing risk, funds working capital and staged capex, and gives management optionality to support JV obligations or fund operational fixes without immediate equity raises.
Improved Operational Cash Generation At NovaNova’s stronger, lower‑cost operations and positive cash contribution are a lasting fundamental benefit: a cash-generative asset supports group free cash flow through the transition, helps absorb fixed costs, and validates operational execution capability at the asset level.
Resource And Reserve Upside At GreenbushesMaterial resource additions and a lower strip ratio at Greenbushes improve long‑term unit economics and mine life optionality. This structural improvement supports future steady volumes, potential CGP expansions, and reduces long‑run operating costs per tonne.
Bears Say
Declining Revenue TrendA ~32% revenue drop reflects weaker commodity prices/volumes and asset outages (Forrestania care & maintenance). Persistent lower top‑line reduces scale benefits, weakens margins, and limits the company’s ability to absorb fixed processing costs absent sustained operational recovery or higher commodity prices.
Ongoing Underlying LossesRecurring underlying losses erode retained earnings and constrain reinvestment. They limit management’s ability to pursue growth or fund remedial capex internally, increase reliance on cash reserves or facilities, and mean profitability must improve materially to restore balance‑sheet strength.
Underperforming Assets And Execution RiskA fully impaired Kwinana and CGP3 commissioning slippage highlight execution and asset‑quality risks. These issues reduce near‑term production, raise the prospect of further write‑downs or partner renegotiations, and mean project delivery risk remains a key impediment to durable volume recovery.
