Bulls Say, Bears Say

Bulls Say
Improved ProfitabilityProfitability has recovered materially with 2026 margins well above prior years, indicating the business can sustain operating profits even in a challenged demand environment. Higher margins support internal funding, resilience through cycles, and better return on invested capital long-term.
Deleveraging TrendLeverage has fallen meaningfully over the period, reflecting stronger equity and lower absolute debt. A healthier capital structure reduces refinancing risk, increases financial flexibility in downturns, and supports sustained investment or dividend policy over the medium term.
Strong Free Cash FlowCash generation rebounded sharply with robust free cash flow in 2026, improving the firm's ability to fund operations, pay down debt, and return capital. Consistent FCF strengthens balance sheet durability and underpins long-term strategic options despite cyclical demand.
Bears Say
Multi-year Revenue DeclinesConsecutive years of revenue contraction constrain operating leverage and limit the runway for sustainable top-line recovery. In a cyclical steel market, secular or structural demand weakness would pressure margins, capex returns, and long-term profitability despite recent margin gains.
Remaining Meaningful DebtAlthough leverage improved, the company still carries substantial absolute debt which can strain cash flow in weaker cycles. High debt relative to equity increases sensitivity to downturns, potentially limiting capital allocation flexibility and raising refinancing costs if markets tighten.
Volatile Cash GenerationCash flow recovery is notable but volatile, with a sharp prior dip in 2023. Such variability in operating cash undermines predictability for debt servicing and investment planning, making sustained capital returns or aggressive deleveraging riskier during adverse industry cycles.
