Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Order Backlog & Multi‑year VisibilityA SEK 318bn backlog provides durable revenue visibility across multi‑year defense programs, reducing near‑term demand risk and enabling production planning and workforce scaling. With ~60% deliverable within 2.5 years, backlog supports steady revenue conversion and long‑term program execution.
Scale & Margin ImprovementSustained revenue growth to TTM SEK 88.2B alongside improving EBIT margins reflects scale economics and pricing power in defense programs. Persistently higher margins support cash generation capacity and fund R&D and capacity expansion, strengthening competitive positioning over the medium term.
Balance Sheet Liquidity & Credit ProfileStrong liquid resources and an investment‑grade BBB+ rating provide financial flexibility for funding production ramps, working capital swings and R&D. Readily available cash buffers reduce refinancing risk and support investments to scale GlobalEye/Gripen without immediate reliance on external capital.
Bears Say
Uneven Cash ConversionFree cash flow at ~43% of net income indicates material working‑capital absorption and reinvestment needs versus earnings. If cash conversion remains volatile it can constrain funding for capex, R&D or backlog fulfilment, and increases sensitivity to payment timing on large contracts.
Supply‑Chain & Component Cost PressurePersistent supply‑chain shortages and higher specialty component costs can erode margins, delay deliveries and require higher inventory or insourcing investments. Over time this raises program unit costs and complicates capacity ramps, making margin targets and delivery schedules harder to guarantee.
Timing Risks On Large Contracts & PaymentsDelayed advance payments and contract booking create timing uncertainty for revenue recognition and cash flow. For large platform wins, contingent booking/receipt timing can compress near‑term liquidity and delay margin realization despite strong underlying demand and backlog size.
