Bulls Say, Bears Say

Bulls Say
Conservative Balance SheetMinimal leverage reduces refinancing risk and preserves flexibility for acquisitions, capital investment and shareholder returns. Healthy TTM ROE of about 14% also indicates Ennis generates solid profitability without depending heavily on debt.
Profitable Cash GenerationSolid margins and operating cash flow above net income support the quality of reported earnings. This gives Ennis internally generated resources to fund dividends, repurchases and operating needs while maintaining financial resilience.
Acquisition And Supply ResilienceAcquisition contributions can broaden the revenue base, while successfully replacing a disrupted paper source demonstrates operational adaptability. Together, these factors support continuity of customer fulfillment and ongoing portfolio expansion.
Bears Say
Inconsistent Revenue GrowthRepeated periods of declining annual revenue indicate that demand and organic growth are not consistently expanding. The strong TTM rebound may therefore be partly cyclical or acquisition-driven, creating uncertainty about the durability of future top-line growth.
Volatile Free Cash FlowAlthough trailing cash conversion is healthy, uneven free cash flow suggests exposure to working-capital swings or irregular capital spending. Persistent volatility could make dividends, repurchases and acquisition funding less predictable during weaker operating periods.
Governance UncertaintyThe dispute over a director election outcome, independence assessment and ISS information creates avoidable governance uncertainty. Continued disagreement among shareholders and the Board could distract management or weaken confidence in oversight and accountability.
