Q2 2026 Earnings Call Summary
The call presented strong operational momentum, significant recurring savings, improved cash generation, commercial progress, and unchanged EBITDA and capacity objectives. However, these positives were offset by the newly expected full-year 2026 net loss, unprofitable Helexia Brazil operations, higher financing costs, elevated leverage, Brazilian curtailment challenges, and uncertainty around the timing and financial contribution of disposals. Overall, the call was cautiously balanced.
For 2026, Voltalia confirms an EBITDA objective of EUR 210 million-EUR 230 million, including EUR 190 million-EUR 210 million from energy sales, approximately 3.6 GW in operation and construction, including around 3 GW in operation, and expects a full year net loss; second-half contributions are expected at EUR 105 million-EUR 120 million from development and energy sales, EUR 5 million-EUR 15 million from Renvolt, and EUR -10 million from other activity and corporate costs, with no additional curtailment compensation expected in the second half. The EUR 300 million-EUR 350 million disposal objective remains for the first half of 2027, while the positive net result objective for 2027 and the related dividend objective for 2028 are suspended; 2027 targets remain around 4.2 GW in operation and construction, including 3.7 GW in operation, and EBITDA of EUR 300 million-EUR 325 million, including EUR 270 million-EUR 300 million from energy sales, with EUR 20 million of curtailment estimated and no curtailment compensation included. For 2030, Voltalia targets around 5 GW in operation and construction, energy sales EBITDA margin of 70%-72%, Renvolt margin of 9%-11%, and net debt to EBITDA of 7.5x-8x, supported by EUR 45 million of average annual recurring savings between 2026 and 2030, including EUR 35 million from development and prospecting and EUR 10 million from structural costs.
- Strong First-Half Revenue and EBITDA GrowthFirst-half turnover reached EUR 331 million, up 30% at constant exchange rates, while EBITDA rose 35% to EUR 110 million. Management attributed part of the period's performance to EUR 29 million of Brazilian historical curtailment compensation, above the more than EUR 20 million initially budgeted.
- Improved Cash Generation and LiquidityOperating cash flow reached EUR 102 million, equivalent to 92% cash conversion. Closing cash increased to EUR 343 million, EUR 108 million higher than at June 2025, despite EUR 139 million of CapEx and EUR 49 million of additional net financing.
- Long-Term Contracted Revenue VisibilityVoltalia reported around EUR 7 billion of secured revenues with an average remaining PPA life of 16.6 years. 79% of revenues are indexed to inflation, providing the company with stated protection against inflation.
- Commercial Momentum and PPA GrowthThe company advanced around 1 GW of PPAs during the first half, mainly through the 860 MW REZA wind project in Egypt and new agreements in the U.K. and Italy. Voltalia also continues to convert its development pipeline while applying stricter investment criteria.
- Pecém Data Center Project ProgressThe Pecém project in Brazil secured 322 MW of grid connection capacity in June and was approved under the Pecém export processing zone framework, enabling it to move toward tax incentives. Voltalia stated that it expects potential EBITDA generation from both monetizing development activities, including the site, and electricity sales through PPAs.
- Long-Term Financing Partnership ProgressVoltalia highlighted the proposed partnership with IFC for up to EUR 120 million. The financing would mainly support large-scale projects in Uzbekistan, Egypt, and Tunisia, with the company also intending to bring in an equity partner at the appropriate stage to share risk and limit capital exposure.
- Development Cost and Workforce EfficiencyDevelopment cash cost spend decreased 33% to EUR 30 million, prospection fell 23% to EUR 6 million, and development headcount declined approximately 14% to 293 people. Development P&L operating impact improved to EUR -2 million, EUR 5 million better than the prior period.
- Energy Sales Revenue and EBITDA ImprovementEnergy production increased 1% following the addition of capacity in South Africa and Uzbekistan. Energy sales turnover increased 29% to EUR 158 million and EBITDA increased 32%, with management stating that the EBITDA margin improved.
- Renvolt Delivered Profitable GrowthRenvolt turnover increased 45% to EUR 124 million, while EBITDA doubled to EUR 12.5 million. EBITDA margin reached 10%, which management identified as its 2030 target. Renvolt had more than 750 MW under construction for third-party clients, more than 1.2 GW under maintenance contracts, and an approximately EUR 300 million backlog, equivalent to 2.3 times 2025 turnover.
- SPRING Transformation ProgressOne year after launch, management stated that most SPRING actions are on track. Around 160 positions have been addressed, representing approximately 80% of the targeted reduction program, and five country exits had been identified with two additional exits targeted by year-end.
- Recurring Savings Ahead of PlanVoltalia delivered EUR 16 million of recurring savings versus the first half of 2025, including EUR 12 million from development and prospecting. On the 2024 baseline, it reported EUR 21 million of savings for six months, ahead of its ambition of EUR 45 million of average annual recurring savings between 2026 and 2030.
- Disposal Program in ProgressMost disposal processes have been launched, discussions are progressing with multiple counterparties, and Voltalia has received some non-binding offers. Management remains aligned with its EUR 300 million-EUR 350 million cash-in objective for the first half of 2027, while stating that it may take more time to maximize value rather than compromise on price.
- Portfolio Refocusing and Selective Capital AllocationVoltalia resized its development pipeline to 12 GW and is prioritizing project quality and maturity over pipeline size. The company introduced a clearer maturity framework, is allocating capital more selectively, and reported that hybrid renewable generation and storage projects are taking a growing share of the pipeline.
- Unchanged 2026, 2027, and 2030 Operating AmbitionsVoltalia confirmed its 2026 EBITDA target of EUR 210 million-EUR 230 million, including EUR 190 million-EUR 210 million from energy sales, and approximately 3.6 GW in operation and construction. It also maintained its 2027 EBITDA target of EUR 300 million-EUR 325 million and its 2030 objectives of around 5 GW in operation and construction, a 70%-72% energy sales EBITDA margin, a 9%-11% Renvolt margin improvement, and net debt to EBITDA of 7.5x-8x.
- Operating Cost Savings in Existing FleetInitiatives to reduce operation and maintenance, asset management, and solar insurance costs in Greece and Brazil already represent around EUR 2.7 million of annual savings. Management said the energy sales EBITDA margin target is expected to improve through existing fleet performance actions and higher-margin new power plants.
