Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Sustained ProfitabilitySECURE has demonstrated a multi-year profitability turnaround with mid-teens returns on equity and solid 2025 margins. Durable positive margins indicate underlying pricing power and operational capacity to cover fixed costs, supporting reinvestment and long-term viability even amid cyclical demand.
Positive Operating Cash FlowConsistent positive operating cash flow and improvement in the trailing period signal the business can generate cash from core operations. This supports funding of maintenance capex, facility operations, and working capital needs without sole reliance on external financing over the medium term.
Asset-backed, Diversified Service ModelAn asset-backed network and several revenue streams (treatment, disposal, recovery, logistics) create recurring, fee-based cash flows and customer stickiness. The infrastructure nature and regulatory compliance needs provide structural demand and competitive barriers for new entrants.
Bears Say
Elevated LeverageLeverage rising back above 1.0 materially increases financial risk for a capital-intensive waste services operator. Higher debt burdens raise interest costs, constrain balance sheet flexibility for investments or downturns, and heighten refinancing and covenant risks over the medium term.
Unstable Free Cash FlowVolatile and sometimes negative free cash flow undermines the sustainability of dividends, capex funding and debt reduction. For an infrastructure-heavy business, inconsistent FCF reduces ability to self-fund growth or weather cyclical declines, elevating reliance on external financing.
Revenue And Margin Volatility / Data InconsistencyLarge swings in reported revenue and margins, and inconsistencies in recent datasets, impair forecasting and weaken confidence in earnings quality. For service networks reliant on throughput, such volatility signals sensitivity to customer activity and operational underutilization risks.

Company Description
SECURE Waste Infrastructure
SECURE Waste Infrastructure Corp. engages in the waste management and energy infrastructure businesses primarily in Canada and the United States. The company operates through two segments: Waste Management and Energy Infrastructure. The Waste Management segment manages a network of permitted processing, recovery, and disposal infrastructure, optimizing the handling of hazardous and non-hazardous liquids, solids, emulsions, and industrial by-products, enabling recycling of metals and recovered oil, and offering compliant long-term solutions for residual waste; specialty chemical solutions are used to enhance processing efficiency and reduce waste intensity; metal recycling, drilling waste management, water disposal, and landfill disposal; and integrated network includes waste transfer stations, waste processing facilities, produced water pipelines, metals recycling, industrial landfills, generating highly recurring, infrastructure-driven cash flows supported by significant regulatory and capital barriers to entry. The Energy Infrastructure segment consists of crude oil terminals, storage facilities, and pipeline-connected infrastructure that optimize, store, and move crude oil and natural gas liquids to market, including value-added crude oil and NGL marketing and optimization activities such as buying, selling, blending, and storage. This segment also provides collection, processing, recovery, recycling and disposal of waste streams generated by its energy and industrial customers and the gathering, optimization, terminalling and storage of crude oil and natural gas liquids. The company was formerly known as Secure Energy Services Inc. and changed its name to SECURE Waste Infrastructure Corp. in January 2025. SECURE Waste Infrastructure Corp. was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in Calgary, Canada.
