Bulls Say
Renewable Asset OwnershipEllomay’s core model of owning and developing renewable power assets creates durable revenue potential from electricity generation. Ownership of assets supports long-term cash flows from sales, contracted tariffs or merchant markets and aligns with structural growth in renewable generation demand.
Multiple Monetization StreamsThe company can monetize projects via electricity sales, share-of-results from JV/associates, selling stakes after development, and residual equity cash flows post project debt. These diversified paths reduce reliance on a single revenue source and support medium-term value realization.
Underlying Operating MarginsRelatively strong EBITDA margins indicate core project economics and operational efficiency before non-cash depreciation and financing costs. This suggests assets can generate healthy operating cash once financing structures and non-operating costs are addressed over the medium term.
Bears Say
Very High LeverageDebt-to-equity around 5.1x materially constrains financial flexibility and raises refinancing, interest and covenant risks. High leverage makes the company vulnerable to cash flow shortfalls and increases the probability that asset sales or external financing will be needed to meet obligations over the medium term.
Persistently Negative Free Cash FlowConsistently deep negative free cash flow implies operations and investments do not cover cash needs, increasing dependency on external financing or asset disposals. Over months, this undermines balance sheet resilience and elevates execution risk for new developments and debt servicing.
Sharp Revenue Decline & LossesA ~45% TTM revenue decline with negative EBIT and substantial net losses signal weakening demand or asset underperformance. Sustained losses reduce retained earnings, impair reinvestment capacity and exacerbate leverage issues, making it harder to self-fund growth or withstand market shocks.
