Q4 2026 Earnings Call Summary

Q4 2026
Earnings Call Date:Sep 15, 2026|% Change Since:9.36%|
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive

The call was broadly optimistic. Management highlighted a significant fourth-quarter recovery, stable full-year production and reserves, stronger liquids pricing, improving operating performance, active development across royalty assets, continued dividends and additional capital-light growth opportunities. These positives were tempered by natural gas pricing weakness, lower year-over-year fourth-quarter production and adjusted EBITDA, lower full-year operating cash flow, limited forward visibility and the need to manage leverage and liquidity.

Company Guidance

For fiscal '27, the company put out “another kind of $4 million to $6 million” in capital expenditures, which “doesn't yet include any CapEx potential in Chaveroo,” assumes some activity in SCOOP/STACK, and “could certainly accelerate more than we thought”; Chaveroo development-well AFEs were a “preliminary number” of “about $3.6 million to $3.9 million.” Management did not provide production or LOE guidance, said total-asset LOE was “right around $20 per BOE” in the fourth quarter and would “go down a little bit over time,” and declared a fiscal Q1 2027 quarterly dividend of $0.12 per share, marking its 52nd consecutive quarterly payment.

  • Strong Fourth-Quarter RecoveryFourth-quarter revenue increased 20% sequentially to $24.2 million, while adjusted EBITDA more than doubled sequentially to $6.5 million from $3.1 million. The improvement was driven by higher realized oil and NGL prices, increased production, the roll-off of the prior-period Delhi transportation adjustment, the cessation of winter weather impacts, Louisiana royalty contributions and improved Delhi performance.
  • Improved Quarterly ProfitabilityFiscal Q4 net income was $4.6 million, or $0.13 per diluted share, compared with a $8.9 million net loss in fiscal Q3 and net income of $3.4 million, or $0.10 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. The quarter included a $5.8 million unrealized gain on derivative contracts, compared with a $7.6 million unrealized loss in fiscal Q3.
  • Higher Oil and NGL RealizationsFourth-quarter realized oil price before hedge settlements increased 49% year-over-year to $90.74 per barrel. Entirely unhedged NGLs realized $32.49 per barrel, up 27% year-over-year, allowing the company to participate in stronger market prices on unhedged volumes.
  • Stable Full-Year Production and ReservesFiscal 2026 average production was 7,077 BOE per day, slightly above 7,074 BOE per day in fiscal 2025. The company produced approximately 2.6 million BOE during the year and ended with 27.2 million BOE of proved reserves, slightly above the beginning-of-year level.
  • Portfolio Diversification and Cash-Flow ResilienceEvolution broadened its business across assets, commodities and operating partners, including legacy non-operated producing assets, working-interest positions and a growing minerals and royalty portfolio. Management said stronger liquids pricing and improved operations across several properties helped offset weakness in natural gas realizations.
  • Permian Minerals AcquisitionFollowing the fiscal year-end, the company completed an approximately $16 million acquisition in the core of the Permian/Midland Basin. The transaction added approximately 3,420 net royalty acres and over 200 BOE per day of current production across Reagan, Upton, Glasscock, Midland and Martin Counties in Texas, along with CapEx-free exposure to future field-level production growth.
  • SCOOP/STACK Operational ImprovementFiscal Q4 SCOOP/STACK production averaged 1,275 BOE per day, up approximately 14% from the prior-year quarter, while per-unit lease operating costs declined to $10.33 per BOE from $11.05. Operators brought online 31 gross wells during fiscal 2026, and the portfolio had 725 gross producing wells, 36 gross proved undeveloped locations or locations in drilling and completion, and more than 360 additional gross locations as of July 31.
  • Active Development Across Royalty PositionsThe Louisiana portfolio included approximately 90 gross producing wells, 16 wells in drilling and completion, 35 pre-permitted wells and over 60 additional gross locations as of July 31. Management said Haynesville and Bossier activity continues to progress and that wells are converting into proved producing assets.
  • Chaveroo Full-Year Production GrowthChaveroo fiscal 2026 production averaged approximately 260 BOE per day, compared with approximately 175 BOE per day in fiscal 2025. The company completed its rod-pump conversion program, converting all seven producing wells by June 30, and has permits for a six-well development program.
  • TexMex Improvement InitiativeTexMex operating performance began improving in the fourth quarter as its extensive workover program progressed. The program was completed in July, and management expects production to continue increasing and operating expenses to normalize.
  • Improved Delhi PerformanceDelhi production increased and operating costs declined in the fourth quarter. Delhi received a premium to WTI during the quarter, supported partly by the Louisiana Light Sweet differential and the WTI roll.
  • Increasing Operator ActivityIn the Permian minerals position, rigs increased from approximately seven to eight, Exxon was running about five rigs across the acreage, Double Eagle had been drilling actively, and Apache filed approximately a dozen permits in Upton County. Management also reported increased activity in Haynesville and approximately eight more rigs year-over-year in SCOOP/STACK.
  • Capital-Light Growth StrategyManagement said royalty assets provide production and cash flow from operator-funded drilling and completion activity. The company intends to pursue additional mineral and royalty acquisitions opportunistically when transactions are highly accretive, while continuing to evaluate attractive working-interest opportunities.
  • Shareholder Returns MaintainedThe Board maintained the quarterly dividend at $0.12 per share for fiscal Q1 2027, marking the 52nd consecutive quarterly payment. Since December 2013, Evolution has returned approximately $151.7 million, or $4.53 per share, through common-stock dividends. Fiscal 2026 dividend payments totaled $16.9 million.
  • Improved Quarterly Cash Flow and LiquidityOperating cash flow increased to $6.8 million in fiscal Q4 from $3.5 million in fiscal Q3. Cash on hand rose to $6.1 million at June 30 from $2.6 million at March 31. Total liquidity was approximately $13.9 million at June 30 and approximately $19 million as of August 20 following the Midland acquisition and related financing actions.
  • Fiscal 2027 Capital BudgetManagement indicated a fiscal 2027 capital budget of approximately $4 million to $6 million. The budget includes assumed SCOOP/STACK activity but does not yet include potential Chaveroo capital, and management said the budget could change based on drilling timing.
  • Hedging and Cash-Flow ProtectionThe company continued adding hedges to comply with credit-facility covenants. Management said the hedging strategy is intended to reduce downside commodity-price risk and protect cash flow for shareholder returns while preserving upside on unhedged production.
  • Potential Natural Gas Demand GrowthManagement described a constructive longer-term natural gas demand outlook as LNG export capacity expands and power demand grows, including from data centers. West Coast gas differentials had already improved from the prior quarter as storage was worked off, although they had not fully returned to historical standards.
  • Noncore Asset MonetizationThe company sold noncore, nonproducing SCOOP/STACK mineral acreage for approximately $3.1 million, monetizing longer-dated development opportunities while retaining acreage with near-term cash-flow potential.
