Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Strong Free Cash FlowMaterial free cash flow generation in 2026 (FCF ~58.8M; OCF ~74M) provides durable internal funding for capex, brand investment, and debt paydown. Sustained FCF reduces reliance on external financing and supports reinvestment and shareholder returns over coming years.
Improved Leverage And Balance SheetMeaningful deleveraging and stronger equity (equity ~264.3M) lower financial risk and interest burden. A rolling 12‑month debt/EBITDA ~2.3x and declining interest expense increase flexibility to fund growth or weather downturns without immediate refinancing pressure.
Portfolio Innovation & DTC MomentumRapid growth in a higher‑growth Better‑for‑You segment (~60% YoY) plus national LayLow and sparkling investments diversify revenue and address changing consumer preferences. Strong Wine Club and estate performance supports higher margin DTC channels and customer lifetime value.
Bears Say
Modest Revenue GrowthUnderlying top‑line growth is low single digits after adjustments, reflecting a mature domestic market and regulated provincial channels. Slow revenue expansion constrains earnings leverage and requires sustained margin or mix improvement to materially lift profitability over time.
Margin Sustainability RiskWhile margins recovered versus recent losses, gross margin slid vs prior year and management says most cost savings have been realized. Future margin upside is thus incremental, leaving profitability exposed to input cost swings and promotional pressure without durable structural insulation.
Operational Pockets & Higher Operating SpendWeakness in estate retail and wine kits, coupled with elevated S&A to support innovation and distribution, creates uneven operating leverage. Persistent channel-specific softness or sustained higher marketing spend could temper margin and cash conversion despite overall improvements.
