Q3 2026 Earnings Call Summary

Q3 2026
Earnings Call Date:Oct 28, 2026|% Change Since:-15.07%|
Earnings Call Sentiment|Negative

The call presented meaningful operational progress, including improving U.S. distributor-transition trends, market-share gains, resilient tequila demand, Mexico outperformance, strong cash generation, and a solid balance sheet. However, these positives were outweighed by sharp declines in consolidated sales, gross margin, operating income, EBITDA, net income, and EPS, along with continued industry contraction, aggressive promotional activity, shipment disruptions, and a downward revision to 2026 sales guidance.

Company Guidance

For 2026, Becle revised guidance to a mid-single digit consolidated net sales value decline on a constant currency basis, while A&P is expected to remain within the full year guidance range of 19%-21% of net sales. In the fourth quarter, U.S. shipments and depletions are expected to remain closely aligned, with share performance to keep improving into 2027; in rest of world, shipments will catch up and depletions are expected to outperform shipments by the end of the year. For 2027, depletions should equal shipments in both transition and non-transition markets. The company expects aggressive pricing to continue at least into 2027 and remains confident of a strong depletion performance in Q4.

  • U.S. Distributor Transition and Inventory Rebalancing ProgressedThe distributor transition continued to progress, and related inventory rebalancing was behind the company. U.S. and Canada shipments declined 3% in the third quarter, improving from declines of 23.8% in the first quarter and 8.7% in the second quarter. Depletions increased 0.3% year over year, compared with declines of 9% and 4.7% in the first and second quarters, respectively.
  • Growth in Transition Markets and Improving Share TrendsTransition markets grew approximately 4.6% in the quarter, while non-transition markets declined approximately 3.1%. Proximo Spirits consumer takeaway volumes, excluding prepared cocktails, declined 1.8% versus a 3.2% decline for the broader market, and the company added 10 basis points of volume share in its core full-strength spirits portfolio. In NABCA control states, the company delivered total tequila share growth in seven of the first eight months of the year.
  • Encouraging Tequila Momentum in the U.S.The company said its tequila portfolio was positioned to benefit from consumer preference for stronger value propositions and craft credentials, while ultra-premium tequila continued to grow. Tequila volumes grew 1.5% over the last four weeks, which management described as an encouraging sign that the trend was moving in the right direction.
  • Mexico Continued to Outperform the MarketExcluding b:oost, organic volumes in Mexico grew 0.3% in the quarter against a third-quarter 2025 comparison of 18.3%, and organic volume was up 3.7% year to date. Nielsen data through August showed company total spirits volume declining 2.5% versus a 6.6% industry contraction, while company value declined 6.1% versus an 8.9% market decline. In tequila, company volume declined 1% versus a 3.5% category decline, and company value declined 5.5% versus an 8.2% category decline.
  • Resilient Tequila Demand in EMEA and APACTequila continued to grow despite mid-single-digit spirits market declines in Europe, with strong depletion growth and share gains in priority European markets. In Asia, tequila grew in value, supported by distribution gains and strong consumer demand, and outperformed other spirit categories across core markets.
  • Healthy Regional Inventory PositionInventory levels across EMEA and APAC remained healthy as the company balanced stock holdings. Management said it would continue to prioritize healthy inventories over short-term shipments and avoid building excessive inventory in the market.
  • Expected Shipment Normalization in the Fourth QuarterManagement said late shipments from September were already being picked up in October, with shipments expected to catch up in the fourth quarter. Shipments were already in place or had departed in Asian and European markets, and the company expected a more normalized shipments-and-depletions profile by year-end.
  • Strong Balance Sheet and Cash GenerationAs of September 30, 2026, cash and cash equivalents totaled MXN 11.2 billion, while total debt was MXN 19 billion, down MXN 2.3 billion from the prior year. The company generated MXN 5.2 billion in net cash from operating activities during the first nine months of 2026. Adjusted net leverage was 1.3 times, within the target range of 1 to 1.5 times.
  • A&P Spending Remained Within GuidanceA&P expenses declined 6.6% in the quarter. Year to date, A&P represented 20.2% of net sales, within the full-year guidance range of 19%-21%.
  • Continued Investment and Productivity InitiativesManagement said the balance sheet provides flexibility to continue investing behind brands and that capital allocation priorities remain investing in the business for long-term growth, sustaining a consistent dividend, and preserving financial strength. The company also identified productivity, savings, and efficiency opportunities expected to materialize next year, mostly in supply chain.
  • Potential for Premium Brand AcquisitionsManagement said it was always evaluating interesting premium brands for acquisition. The company had not seen anything appealing as of the call but remained open to acquisitions, ideally in existing categories at premium price points above $30.
