Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Consistent Operating Cash FlowFor a capital-intensive utility, persistent positive operating cash flow across 2024–2026 provides durable funding for maintenance, regulatory obligations and ongoing capex. This reduces reliance on external financing and supports long-term service continuity and investment planning.
Improving Capitalization (equity Build)A multi-year rise in equity strengthens the company's solvency buffer and absorptive capacity for shocks. Gradual capitalization improvement enhances credit resilience, gives management more flexibility on long-dated infrastructure spending, and underpins regulated-network investment plans.
Recovered ProfitabilityThe rebound from a loss year to sustained profitability demonstrates underlying earnings power in the regulated electric business. Stable operating profits reflect ability to earn allowed returns and fund operations, making core cash generation and service delivery more predictable over time.
Bears Say
Elevated LeverageDebt materially above equity constrains financial flexibility for a regulated utility that needs steady capex. Higher leverage raises interest-cost sensitivity, limits room to absorb tariff or demand shocks, and increases refinancing and rating risks over the medium term.
Volatile Free Cash Flow And MarginsIrregular free cash flow and swinging margins complicate long-term planning: they can force uneven capex timing, constrain steady dividend policies, and slow deleveraging. For infrastructure-heavy utilities, predictable FCF is key; volatility raises execution and funding risk.
Inconsistent Revenue GrowthErratic top-line trends limit visibility into base demand and pricing recovery under regulatory frameworks. Inconsistent revenue constrains sustainable margin expansion and makes long-term investment returns and tariff negotiations more uncertain for management and stakeholders.
