Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Sustained Multi‑year Revenue GrowthBadger has delivered durable top‑line expansion from 2021 to the TTM period, including Q2 revenue +23% YoY and multi‑year scaling. Broad end‑market exposure (utilities, data centers, industrial) supports steady demand for hydrovac services, underpinning long‑term revenue growth beyond cyclical spikes.
Improving Operating Profitability And RPTAdjusted EBITDA expansion and higher revenue per truck reflect sustainable operational gains from pricing, utilization and analytics. Persistent mid‑20s adjusted margins and rising RPT indicate the business can convert scale and efficiency into durable cash earnings, assuming continued execution.
Capacity Buildout And Financing FlexibilityPlanned U.S. plant and recent bond issuance enhance Badger's ability to scale fleet while mitigating tariff risk. Improved manufacturing capacity plus ample undrawn credit provide durable support for fleet expansion targets and reduce single‑source manufacturing constraints over the medium term.
Bears Say
Weak Free Cash Flow ConversionFFO to FCF conversion is strained: FCF around $11.5M (≈6% of net income) implies much of reported earnings are consumed by reinvestment and working capital. That weak conversion increases reliance on external capital for fleet growth and limits durable internally funded returns or shock absorption.
Rising Leverage Reduces Financial FlexibilityHigher leverage (debt/equity ~1.05 and net leverage near 1.5x EBITDA) elevates refinancing and interest risk. This structural increase in indebtedness constrains the firm's ability to weather margin shocks or fund opportunistic growth without raising costs or diluting equity, making returns more cyclically sensitive.
Margin Compression And Tariff/industry Cost PressureGross and EBITDA margin erosion (gross ~23.4% TTM) plus a near‑term 50–70bps drag from strategic investments and tariff costs show margins are vulnerable. Industry capacity growth and manufacturer ramp‑up could limit pricing power, making margin recovery and sustainability less certain over the medium term.

Company Description
Badger Infrastructure Solutions
Badger Infrastructure Solutions Ltd., a company established in Calgary, Canada, in 1992, delivers non-destructive excavating and related support services throughout Canada and the United States. Formerly known as Badger Daylighting Ltd. until its name change in May 2021, the company's core offering revolves around its proprietary Badger Hydrovac technology. This advanced system precisely liquifies ground cover using a pressurized water stream, which is then efficiently removed via a vacuum system and stored in an integrated tank. The company provides an extensive portfolio of specialized solutions. These include daylighting for the visual verification of subterranean lines, creating test holes for directional drilling, subsurface utility engineering, and sacrificial anode installations, as well as facilitating pipeline and utility crossings. Badger also conducts slot trenching and excavates service repair pits vital for gas service tie-ins, electric cable fault repairs, water main and service repairs, and telecom splices. Furthermore, its services cover excavations for poles and pilings, including those for utilities, traffic signals, transmission lines, light standards, and signposts, along with pole removals. It also handles various piling needs like end-bearing, pilot holes for friction, and spread footing piles, in addition to well monitor installations. Badger offers comprehensive debris removal for frac tanks, road and box culverts, pipe-rammed casings, ballast and filter media, and material extraction from within structures. Specialized pipeline excavation supports crossings, tie-ins, hydro probing, utility conflict resolution, and oil/fuel spill remediation. Complementary services encompass anode installation, emergency response, and precise potholing. Beyond fieldwork, the company also designs, engineers, and supplies excavation shoring systems. As of December 31, 2021, Badger operated a fleet of 1,371 Badger hydrovacs. It serves a wide array of sectors, including aggregate, construction, engineering, industrial, mining, oil and gas, power generation, transportation, utility, and railway industries.
BDGIF Earnings Call
Q2 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call signals strong operational and financial momentum: record organic revenue growth (+23% YoY), robust adjusted EBITDA growth (+25% YoY) and improved RPT (+14% YoY) driven by higher utilization, pricing momentum and analytics‑led operational gains. The company is investing to scale (new U.S. plant, service lines, hiring and operational programs) and has a solid balance sheet (C$300M bond, leverage ~1.5x EBITDA). Near‑term headwinds include investment‑related gross margin dilution (~50–70 bps), some early‑quarter delays capturing pricing in select markets, limited quantified backlog disclosure, and remaining uncertainty around U.S. plant capex/timing and tariff exposure. Overall, the positive operational results and balance sheet flexibility outweigh the near‑term investment and execution uncertainties.View all BDGIF earnings summariesBDGIF Stock 12 Month Forecast
