Integrated Palm Oil Value ChainIntegration across plantations, milling, and downstream processing gives First Resources multiple points of value capture within the palm oil chain. This operating model can support efficiency, product flexibility, and better control over processing economics than a single-stage business.
Strong Profitability And Revenue RecoveryHealthy 2025 margins indicate that the business retained substantial earnings power while revenue rebounded sharply. This combination provides internal capacity to fund operations and reinforces the company’s ability to benefit when plantation output and palm oil market conditions improve.
Improved Returns On EquityAn improved return on equity shows that First Resources generated stronger profits relative to its shareholder capital in 2025. Alongside a sizable equity base, this supports capital productivity and provides a stronger foundation for sustaining operations through normal commodity cycles.
Bears Say
Material Increase In LeverageThe sharp increase in leverage raises financial risk and reduces flexibility if palm oil conditions weaken. Higher debt can constrain future investment and capital allocation, while making earnings and shareholder returns more sensitive to operating volatility across down-cycles.
Weak And Volatile Free Cash FlowLow conversion of earnings into free cash flow means reported profitability has not consistently translated into distributable or reinvestable cash. The historical swings suggest that reinvestment needs or working-capital movements can pressure shareholder returns during weaker operating periods.
Commodity-driven Earnings VolatilityFirst Resources remains exposed to the cyclical economics of palm oil production, where market prices and plantation yields can materially change revenue and margins. This volatility makes earnings less predictable and can amplify the effect of leverage during weaker commodity periods.

Company Description
First Resources (Singapore)
First Resources Limited, founded in Singapore in 1992, operates as an investment holding company primarily focused on palm oil production. Its extensive operations span Singapore, Indonesia, Europe, China, and other international regions. The company's business is organized into two main divisions: Plantations and Palm Oil Mills, and Refinery and Processing. In its Plantations and Palm Oil Mills segment, First Resources is responsible for cultivating and maintaining oil palms, as well as harvesting and milling fresh fruit bunches to produce crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernels (PK). The Refinery and Processing division subsequently transforms these CPO and PK products into a variety of value-added derivatives, such as biodiesel, palm kernel oil, palm kernel expeller, and refined, bleached, and deodorized (RBD) olein and stearin. Beyond its core palm oil activities, the company also engages in rubber cultivation. First Resources oversees a substantial agricultural portfolio, managing 212,208 hectares of oil palm plantations and an additional 6,321 hectares dedicated to rubber. The company is a subsidiary of Eight Capital Inc.
