Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Large Backlog And Recurring Aftermarket RevenueRTX combines a record multiyear backlog with a large installed base that generates recurring maintenance, spares and sustainment revenue. This improves revenue visibility and reduces dependence on new equipment deliveries over the next several years.
Raised Growth, Margin And Cash OutlookHigher guidance across sales, earnings and free cash flow indicates broad-based operating improvement rather than reliance on one program. Upgraded segment outlooks also support sustained revenue growth and margin recovery over the medium term.
Pratt Operational Recovery Strengthens Lifecycle EconomicsImproved Pratt MRO throughput and aircraft availability can restore customer confidence while expanding higher-value aftermarket capacity. The GTF Advantage certification and deliveries add a newer platform to the engine lifecycle opportunity.
Bears Say
Moderate Leverage Limits Financial FlexibilityDebt reduction is encouraging, but RTX still carries meaningful leverage relative to a low-debt peer. If aerospace execution weakens or major program charges return, debt service and balance-sheet commitments could constrain investment flexibility.
Limited Gross-margin Cushion And Cost PressureA roughly 20% gross margin leaves less protection against labor, material, tariff and supply-chain inflation. Continued SG&A and tariff pressure could limit incremental profit conversion even if revenue growth remains strong.
Pratt OE Weakness And Working-capital DemandsLower commercial original-equipment sales and mix shifts can slow near-term Pratt revenue growth while production scales. Inventory investment and working-capital absorption may also make cash generation less predictable during the ramp.

RTX Earnings Call
Q2 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call conveyed a decidedly positive tone: strong organic revenue growth, record backlog, substantial defense and commercial bookings, margin expansion, operational improvements (notably at Pratt MRO and Raytheon production), and an upgraded full-year outlook for sales, EPS and free cash flow. Near-term headwinds include OE mix pressure at Pratt, working capital/inventory builds to support higher production, some one-time costs and tariff/SG&A pressures, and the fact that key framework agreements are not yet in backlog. On balance the financial results, upgraded guidance, large backlog and clear operational progress outweigh the challenges.View all RTX earnings summariesRTX Net sales Breakdown
