Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Conservative Balance SheetVery low leverage and a large equity base give Hunting durable financial resilience through oilfield cycles. This supports funding of capex, buybacks and M&A without stressing liquidity, preserves optionality for tender execution, and reduces insolvency risk during prolonged downturns.
Large Tender PipelineA >$1bn tender/inquiry pipeline and guidance expecting order conversions materially improves medium-term revenue visibility. If converted, it supports a rising order book (management expects build toward ~$500m) and underpins sustainable utilization, backlog-backed margin recovery and revenue diversification.
Margin Recovery And ProfitabilityImproving gross and EBITDA margins plus explicit FY26 margin targets reflect operational leverage and successful restructuring. Coupled with announced $15m (plus $5m) cost programs and focused capex plans, this supports sustainable margin expansion and a credible path to higher returns on capital.
Bears Say
Free Cash Flow VolatilityA sharp FCF decline and historically uneven operating cash (including negative OCF in 2022) indicate cash conversion remains cyclical. This undermines predictability for capex, dividends and buybacks, and raises execution risk when tender timing or project phasing shifts.
Order Visibility Risk (KOC)Completion of large KOC orders and delayed tenders reduce near-term backlog and make revenue lumpy. Reliance on timing of major tenders creates structural visibility risk across the next 2–6 months and can prolong margin volatility if conversions slip.
EMEA Weakness And RestructuringOngoing EMEA restructuring and site closures carry 12–18 month disruption and one‑off costs. Regional softness can depress near-to-medium term volumes and margins, and execution risk on facility moves may delay efficiency gains the company expects from consolidation.
