Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Strong Cash GenerationRobust operating cash flow and consistently positive free cash flow provide internal funding for network investment, debt reduction, and shareholder commitments. This cash generation is a durable support for the business even while revenue growth and earnings remain under pressure.
Resilient Canadian OperationsRepeated Canadian adjusted EBITDA growth indicates that the company retains operating resilience in a core market. Expected slightly positive Canadian revenue and EBITDA growth should help offset weakness elsewhere and support more stable consolidated performance over coming quarters.
Digital And Wireless Growth PotentialStrong customer satisfaction, referrals, and lower churn among bundled wireless users suggest potential to deepen customer relationships and improve retention. Although the wireless base is small, successful scaling could create a more diversified growth engine alongside established broadband services.
Bears Say
Revenue And Earnings DeteriorationThe shift from historically steady profitability to a TTM net loss, combined with sharply lower revenue, weakens earnings quality and reduces confidence in near-term growth. Continued deterioration could constrain reinvestment and make the company more dependent on cost control and cash flow.
Elevated Leverage And Reduced FlexibilityHigh leverage increases sensitivity to operating volatility and leaves less balance-sheet flexibility when performance weakens. The latest equity decline compounds that concern, potentially limiting the company’s ability to absorb prolonged pressure while funding network investment and debt obligations.
U.S. Asset And Operating PressureThe large U.S. impairment signals a material downward reassessment of the value and expected economics of those assets. It reinforces concerns about the U.S. platform’s durability and may remain relevant as competition, promotional intensity, and customer pressure challenge future returns.

COG Earnings Call
Q3 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Negative
The call presented a mixed picture: strong free cash flow generation, resilient Canadian performance, and promising early traction for digital/wireless initiatives (OXIO, Welo) are meaningful positives. However, a very large non-cash impairment tied to the U.S. assets, ongoing U.S. ARPU pressure, expected Q4 subscriber weakness in the U.S., and a slower-than-expected U.S. deleveraging path are substantial negatives. While management is pursuing operational levers (AI, scaling Welo, procurement and CapEx efficiencies, debt repurchases), the scale of the U.S. challenges and the impairment weigh heavily on the near-term outlook.View all DE:COG earnings summariesCOG Stock 12 Month Forecast
