Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Clinical Progress (abdakibart)Positive Phase 2 topline and explicit intent to move abdakibart into a registrational Phase 3 materially de-risks the lead program's clinical pathway. Success or clear Phase 3 design reduces regulatory and development uncertainty and anchors the company's strategic focus over the next 2-6 months.
Pipeline Expansion (AVTX-010)Introducing AVTX-010 as a long-acting follow-on to abdakibart strengthens the company’s IL-1β franchise, potentially creating product differentiation via less frequent dosing. A broadened pipeline increases optionality, IP potential and long-term competitive positioning in inflammatory diseases.
Improved Funding RunwayA sizeable $~405M equity and warrant financing meaningfully extends cash runway to fund pivotal Phase 3 and IND-enabling work, reducing near-term solvency risk. Combined with low current leverage, this funding supports execution of clinical milestones over the medium term.
Bears Say
Minimal And Declining RevenueAvalo remains a pre-commercial biotech with revenues that have declined materially; the TTM revenue base is minimal. Lack of recurring product sales means value is fully dependent on clinical success and external financing, constraining reinvestment and making operations sensitive to trial outcomes.
Persistent Cash BurnSustained negative operating and free cash flows indicate high cash burn inherent to clinical development. Continued outflows necessitate future financings unless costs are cut or revenue emerges, increasing execution risk and potentially delaying development timelines if funding availability tightens.
Dilution And Governance ShiftsStructural financing and governance moves—ownership limit expansions, new convertible preferred series, and enhanced executive change-of-control protections—can increase dilution risk and alter incentive alignment. Such shifts may raise long-term shareholder dilution and complicate capital structure during future financings.

Company Description
Avalo Therapeutics
Avalo Therapeutics, Inc. is a precision medicine company in the clinical development phase, dedicated to identifying, advancing, and marketing specialized treatments for patients experiencing critical unmet medical needs across the fields of immunology, immuno-oncology, and rare genetic disorders. Among its key pipeline assets is AVTX-002, a fully human monoclonal antibody designed to inhibit LIGHT. This drug is currently undergoing Phase II clinical trials for non-eosinophilic asthma and inflammatory bowel diseases, specifically moderate to severe Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Furthermore, AVTX-002 is also being investigated in Phase III for its potential to treat acute respiratory distress syndrome caused by COVID-19. The company is also advancing AVTX-007, a fully human monoclonal antibody targeting IL-18, which is progressing through Phase I clinical studies for Still's disease, encompassing both adult-onset Still's disease and systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Avalo's late-stage pipeline includes two products addressing rare genetic conditions, both in Phase III clinical trials: AVTX-801, a D-galactose substrate replacement therapy for phosphoglucomutase 1 deficiency (PGM1), also known as PGM1-CDG; and AVTX-803, an L-fucose substrate replacement therapy intended for LADII, medically referred to as SLC35C1-CDG. Established in 2011, the corporation initially operated as Cerecor Inc. before rebranding as Avalo Therapeutics, Inc. in August 2021. Its main operations are situated in Rockville, Maryland.
