Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Upstream Growth And EfficiencyRecord production, the Rincón de Aranda ramp-up and lower lifting costs support durable volume and margin expansion. Planned growth toward a 45,000 bbl/d plateau and improved drilling efficiency can strengthen upstream earnings as infrastructure comes online.
RIGI-Backed Export PlatformRIGI approval provides a long-term framework for a large integrated oil and gas development, including processing and evacuation infrastructure. Export-oriented production and expected US$17bn lifetime revenues could expand scale and improve market access.
Integrated Fertilizer ExpansionThe urea project broadens Pampa beyond energy sales while using its gas and power businesses to support a cost-integrated platform. Import substitution and regional exports create a potential long-term growth avenue tied to Argentina’s resource base.
Bears Say
Negative Free Cash FlowPersistent negative free cash flow indicates that capital spending, working-capital needs and hedge collateral are absorbing more cash than operations generate. Continued investment may require additional funding and leaves less flexibility if project returns or timing disappoint.
Higher Leverage And Cash CommitmentsLeverage is manageable but rising debt and substantial pipeline prepayments increase funding demands during an investment-heavy period. Management expects leverage to remain near 1.5x before deleveraging, limiting balance-sheet flexibility if cash conversion weakens.
Generation Reliability RiskReduced fleet availability can constrain dispatch volumes and power EBITDA, particularly while the company is expanding generation and relying on operational synergies. Recurring outages or maintenance overruns could weaken reliability and raise execution costs.

Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call emphasized strong operational momentum (record production, rapid Rincon de Aranda ramp-up, significant YoY EBITDA growth, improved drilling/completion efficiency, and strategic capacity wins) while also highlighting near-term cash and working capital pressures (negative free cash flow, hedge collateral, prepayments for pipeline capacity), some operational outages and mark-to-market volatility from hedges. Management communicated credible plans to sustain ramp-up, access financing (recent bond issuance) and gradually deleverage as EBITDA grows, while noting several near-term cash commitments and hedge effects.View all DE:9PAA earnings summaries9PAA Stock 12 Month Forecast
