Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Strong Gross MarginsSustained gross margins near 69–71% show that Myriad’s testing portfolio retains solid economics at the product level, providing a foundation for future operating leverage if the company can control costs and restore growth.
Positive Equity CushionPositive equity gives Myriad a balance-sheet cushion and indicates leverage is not excessive in absolute terms. This provides more flexibility to fund operations and pursue its diagnostic strategy while profitability remains under pressure.
Improved Operating Cash FlowThe return to positive operating cash flow is an improvement from large outflows in 2022–2023 and suggests some progress in cash conversion. If sustained, it could reduce reliance on external financing as the business works toward profitability.
Bears Say
Persistent Operating LossesLarge operating losses continue to overwhelm Myriad’s strong gross margins, showing that the current cost structure is not supported by revenue. Persistent losses weaken retained capital and make durable earnings improvement dependent on major operating changes.
Revenue ContractionRecent revenue contraction follows stronger growth in 2023–2024 and signals weaker demand or execution across the testing portfolio. Without renewed volume growth or improved test mix, fixed operating costs will remain difficult to absorb.
Fragile Cash GenerationNegative and historically volatile free cash flow limits Myriad’s ability to self-fund investment, debt reduction, or strategic initiatives. The modest operating cash inflow has not yet translated into durable cash generation after capital spending.

MYD Earnings Call
Q2 2026
0:00 / 0:00
Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call emphasized meaningful progress in core growth engines (double-digit hereditary cancer growth, robust GeneSight performance, solid gross margins and a deep product pipeline) and management reaffirmed full-year guidance and positive adjusted EBITDA expectations. Near-term pressures include a Q1 adjusted EBITDA loss, higher operating expense due to accelerated commercial hiring, and a notable prenatal revenue decline. Management is investing to drive back-half acceleration but execution (sales ramp, MRD adoption, payer reimbursement) will determine pace of recovery. On balance, the positives around market share gains, product launches and revenue guidance outweigh the short-term profitability and prenatal headwinds.View all CH:MYD earnings summariesMYD Stock 12 Month Forecast
