Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Massive Backlog And Demand VisibilityA $715B consolidated backlog provides multi-year revenue visibility tied to deliveries, reducing near-term demand risk. This deep, diversified order book supports production planning, supplier negotiations and predictable revenue conversion over several years, underpinning long-term cash flow.
Improving Cash Generation TrajectoryFree cash flow turned positive on a TTM basis and Q2 FCF was $631M, with management guiding $1–$3B for 2026. Sustainable positive FCF reduces reliance on external financing, enables debt paydown and capex funding, and materially improves financial flexibility if the company can stabilize conversion.
Production Ramps And Certification ProgressSustained production ramp to 47/month and stabilized 787 output reflect operational recovery and capacity scaling. Progress on LRIP lines and certification milestones improves delivery throughput, enabling backlog conversion and revenue growth over multi-year cycles once supplier and quality issues remain controlled.
Bears Say
Very High Leverage And Limited Balance Sheet CushionDebt materially exceeds equity, leaving the company highly leveraged and less able to absorb shocks. High interest and principal obligations constrain capital allocation, slow equity rebuilding, and reduce flexibility for investments or unexpected program costs, elevating long-term financial risk.
Structurally Thin Margins And Pressured Operating PerformancePersistently low or negative segment operating margins limit internal funding for R&D and quality improvements. Thin profitability makes earnings and cash flow highly sensitive to cost overruns, fixed‑price program losses, and supply issues, slowing durable margin recovery and equity repair over time.
Supply Chain And Program Execution RisksOngoing engine delivery timing, seat certification delays, and supplier capacity constraints threaten steady delivery cadence. These execution risks cause delivery lumpiness, cost variability and cash flow volatility, limiting ability to reliably convert backlog into long-term revenue and margin improvement.

BCO Earnings Call
Q2 2026

Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call highlighted clear operational momentum: record commercial deliveries, revenue growth (+8%), positive free cash flow in the quarter, strong backlog and certification progress on several key airplane programs. Management reiterated confidence in meeting annual free cash flow guidance ($1–$3 billion), debt paydown and multi-year margin improvement targets. However, material near-term challenges remain — notably a $280 million VC-25B charge, continued depressed margins in some programs, seat certification lumpiness, engine supply timing for the 787, and labor negotiation risk — that temper the outlook. On balance, progress on production ramps, certification milestones, cash generation and backlog strength outweigh the current program-specific and supply-chain headwinds.View all CH:BCO earnings summariesBCO Revenue Breakdown
