Volkswagen is trying to regain the status and sales it enjoyed in the United States in the 1960s by tapping into some of the nostalgia related to the Beetle and Microbus vehicles, Jack Ewing of The New York Times reports. The company intends to lean on a new electric model that resembles the Microbus, the ID.Buzz, and to revive the Sout brand with a new line of electric pickups and sport utility vehicles.
