While Uber (UBER) and Lyft (LYFT) gave up on plans to develop their own driverless taxis years ago, they are now revamping their businesses to accommodate competitors who have completed such plans, Preetika Rana of The Wall Street Journal reports. Both platforms now have app features that allow customers to use their phones to open trunks and honk horns. Uber and Lyft will have driverless cars on their apps starting this year.
