UAW close to tentative agreement on new contract with GM, WSJ says

After having negotiated throughout Thursday night and into Friday morning, then having reconvened in the early afternoon, the United Auto Workers union and General Motors (GM) are close to reaching a tentative agreement on a new contract, people with knowledge of the matter told The Wall Street Journal’s Mike Colias. GM presented an offer overnight that is similar to the tentative agreement that the UAW struck with Ford (F) on Wednesday, the sources told Colias. Around 28,000 workers remain on strike at GM and Stellantis (STLA) assembly plants and parts-distribution centers, the report noted.
