U.S. slows issuing of Middle East licenses to AI chipmakers, Bloomberg reports

U.S. officials have slowed the issuing of licenses to chipmakers such as Nvidia (NVDA) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) for large-scale AI accelerator shipments to the Middle East while officials conduct a national security review of AI development in the region, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg’s Mackenzie Hawkins and Ian King. The sources said it is unclear how long the review will take, the report added. U.S. officials are especially focused on high-volume sales of chips, the authors noted.
