Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, or TSMC, is set to be awarded over $5B in federal grants to support a chipmaking project in Arizona, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg’s Mackenzie Hawkins. The award is not yet finalized and it is also not yet clear whether TSMC will tap the loans and guarantees also on offer from the 2022 Chips and Science Act, the report added.
