President Donald Trump told reporters on Monday that Microsoft (MSFT) is in talks to buy TikTok and that he’d like to see a bidding war over the social media app, Reuters reports. Trump said last week that he was in talks with multiple people over buying TikTok and would likely have a decision on the app’s future in 30 days. Trump previously denied holding talks with Oracle (ORCL) about a TikTok deal. Companies in the social media space that compete with TikTok include Meta (META), Alphabet’s (GOOG) YouTube (GOOGL), Pinterest (PINS), Reddit (RDDT) and Snap (SNAP).
