The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has given Tesla (TSLA) and Ford (F) poor grades in a study that reviewed driver-assistance systems, finding little evidence the technology provides safety benefits to motorists, The Wall Street Journal’s Ryan Felton reports. The study gave a “poor” rating to 11 of 14 systems it tested, with IIHS president David Harkey saying “Some drivers may feel that partial automation makes long drives easier, but there is little evidence it makes driving safer.” Toyota’s (TM) Lexus brand earned an “acceptable” rating in the study for its Teammate feature on the LS sedan, according to the report, while GM‘s (GM) GMC Sierra pickup truck and Nissan’s (NSANY) Ariya electric SUV received “marginal” ratings.
