Synopsys, Ansys in talks to merge, WSJ reports

Synopsys (SNPS), which has a market value of roughly $85B, is in talks to acquire Ansys (ANSS), which has a market value of nearly $30B, in a move that would create a new design-software giant, according The Wall Street Journal’s Lauren Thomas and Laura Cooper, citing people familiar with the matter. An acquisition of Ansys could be struck early in 2024, but the talks could still fall apart and another suitor could emerge, the report added. In late Friday trading, Synopsys shares are down over 5% to $529.59.
