U.S. Senator Josh Hawley, a Republican from Missouri, is calling on the Biden administration to block Capital One’s (COF) proposed takeover of Discover (DFS), Axios’ Stef Kight reports, citing a letter. “This is destructive corporate consolidation at its starkest,” Hawley said in a letter to Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Kanter. The news comes as U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat from Massachusetts, has also called on regulators to bar the acquisition, the author notes.
