China’s State Administration for Market Regulation, or SAMR, has mandated an external economist to help analyze the competition to a combination of MaxLinear (MXL) and Silicon Motion Technology (SIMO), which suggests the agency’s review "may still be some distance away from reaching an advanced stage," Dealreporter said, according to contacts.
