Back in 2019, Rockefeller’s campaign against Exxon (XOM) was faltering following after a judge cleared the company on fraud charges, Christoper Matthews of The Wall Street Journal reports. Since then, Miranda Kaiser, a fifth-generation heir to the Rockefeller fortune, has escalated the campaign following the final wish of her dying brother. Now, the Rockefeller Family Fund is funding litigation and other support for over 30 lawsuits in the U.S. against the fossil fuel industry and Exxon is a defendant in all of them. The goal of the cases is to collect billions of dollars from Exxon and its peers for its contributions to climate change and the damages caused by it.
