Perplexity to pay Snap $400M in AI search partnership

Snap (SNAP) and Perplexity announced a partnership “to integrate Perplexity’s AI-powered answer engine directly into Snapchat, giving Snapchat’s community of nearly 1 billion monthly active users a new way to ask questions, explore topics they care about, and learn about the world.” Starting in early 2026, Perplexity will appear in the Chat interface for Snapchatters, the companies said in a statement. Under the agreement, Perplexity will pay Snap $400M over one year, through a combination of cash and equity. Revenue from the partnership is expected to begin contributing in 2026. “Through this integration, Perplexity’s AI-powered answer engine will let Snapchatters ask questions and get clear, conversational answers drawn from verifiable sources, all within Snapchat,” the companies added.
