Middlefield Banc announced the Company has appointed Ronald Zimmerly, Jr. as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding James Heslop, II. Zimmerly, currently President and Director of Middlefield Banc and The Middlefield Banking Company, will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer of both entities on January 1, 2024, upon Heslop’s retirement. Heslop will resign from the Middlefield Banc Corp. Board of Directors on December 31, 2023. The Company’s Board of Directors has taken action to reduce the size of its Board of Directors from 13 to 12 effective on December 31, 2023. Zimmerly joined Middlefield as President following the acquisition of Liberty Bancshares, Inc. on December 1, 2022.
