343 Industries, the Microsoft-owned game developer behind the "Halo" franchise, laid off at least 95 people amid the parent company’s broader layoffs announced this month, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier’ reports. The company’s most recent game, "Halo Infinite," had a strong launch in late 2021, but has received criticism from players for failing to remedy certain bugs and not releasing new content frequently enough, the author notes. In addition to layoffs, the studio is switching to Unreal Engine for future development, has no plans to make additional story content for "Infinite," and is instead working on prototypes for new "Halo" projects, the author says.
