ACCESS TO BITCOIN: Fold is a bitcoin financial services company making it easy for individuals and businesses to earn, save, and spend bitcoin through everyday financial tools. “Fold is a platform that lets you accumulate bitcoin very easily without changing any of your day-to-day habits. You can buy bitcoin from your checking account. You can earn bitcoin as rewards instead of airline miles. And you can convert some of your paycheck into bitcoin for long-term savings. It’s the easiest on-ramp for people to start accumulating bitcoin,” CEO Will Reeves told The Fly in an exclusive interview.

BITCOIN GIFT CARD: When presenting earnings recently, the company said its “Bitcoin Gift Card” had successfully launched in the quarter and that the product continues to gain traction. “This is one of our most exciting products that we have announced this year. The rollout is in progress, and we expect that to ramp up to the end of the year. The peak season for gifting bitcoin and gift gifting in general is in the holiday season and so we are working now to position the bitcoin gift card to be maximally available during the holiday season this year and where we are very happy with that today,” the executive said.

BITCOIN: Bitcoin is no longer something new, but many people still don’t incorporate it into their daily lives. With easy-to-use tools and services, Fold is helping bring change to the cryptocurrency space. “Bitcoin itself is not new but the tools and services that make bitcoin usable are. Those have really matured and came into their own only in the last couple years. For many people, they might’ve heard about bitcoin but the good tools to start accumulating and using it haven’t been around that long. Our goal has always been to be the provider of those tools, not as simply a way to trade and speculate on bitcoin, but to accumulated as long-term savings and make it valuable in in people’s day-to-day lives,” Reeves explained.

FAVORABLE ENVIRONMENT: Discussing the current political environment and its implications for cryptocurrency, Fold CEO said that “We’ve really seen a complete transformation in regulators’ embrace of Bitcoin. It’s gone from an asset that has largely been operating in a gray area of how it should be regulated to now one with very clear guidelines that make investing in the asset very clear and secure for people. And that’s why we’re seeing not only everyday individuals and families beginning to adopt Bitcoin as part of their core savings but we’re also seeing governments do this, we’re seeing corporations do this, and we’re seeing pension funds do this. This is all driven by the fact that the regulatory climate around Bitcoin has really been settled and come a long way from where it was.”

MISCONCEPTION: Discussing potential misconceptions about the company, Reeves told The Fly that “one of the misconceptions is that Bitcoin is only for experts or people who are advanced into finance and that’s not true. Bitcoin is for everyone. It has been the best performing asset for the last decade and the fact that the tools to accumulate and use Bitcoin for everyday people have only just come into their own means that there’s an amazing opportunity for everyone, not just communities or advanced financial experts, to use Bitcoin. And I think another misconception is how big this market is. Bitcoin will be a core part of the savings of all Americans over the next five years.”
