Manchester United remains in negotiations with “multiple parties” regarding a takeover of the soccer club, Mike Keegan of Daily Mail reports. There have been significant delays but the talks are still active with Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe remaining the two front-runners, according the website. Both have lodged bids which value Manchester United at around GBP 5B, Keegan points out. Sheikh Jassim’s offer is for a total buyout, while Ratcliffe’s proposal is for a staged takeover which would allow members of the Glazer family to retain their interest for a set period. Neither party is thought to have got close to the GBP 6B price that the Glazer are reportedly seeking, Daily Mail adds. Shares of Manchester United are up 2% to $20.60 in midday trading.
