A judge ruled that Coinbase engages in the “unregistered sale and offer of securities” under U.S. law, allowing a lawsuit by the Securities and Exchange Commission to go forward against the company, Bloomberg reports. The judge also ruled that Coinbase operates as an exchange, a broker and a clearing agency for purposes of the federal securities laws.
